Please pardon our delay in announcing a winner. Maggy’s been on vacation and I’ve been in FL helping my parents move from their home of 35 years to a retirement facility. Our KitchenAid “Cook for Mom” winner is #167 Angie who says, “Having lost my mother-in-law and own mother in recent years, I will be reflecting on my happy memories of both of them. I will also enjoy basking in the love I will receive from my two girls and husband.” Congratulations!
We aren’t much of a gift-giving family, not at least in the ‘box, wrapping paper and bow’ sense. For us celebrations are about the food and the people and long-winded cards that wax poetic about our love and respect for one another. We used to do presents, but then the company and the menu were so superior (especially when we were old enough to add a splash of wine to the mix) that those earrings, blouses, and calendars just didn’t add that much to the feel of the event anymore. So we long ago decided to put all our effort (and money) into food lovingly prepared, drinks carefully selected, tables beautifully laid, music painstakingly chosen, and the moment we should share together.
On Mother’s Day, more than on any other special day, we do this for our mother because she is so worth it. She has the most generous spirit and giving heart of anyone I know. There is no person better at celebrating you than Pam Anderson. She cheers the loudest, supports the strongest, offers the most, gives the biggest. Not just to us, but to everyone in her life. So on this day, we do for her. And truth be told, she’d be happy with a grilled cheese, a bowl of homemade tomato soup and a cold craft beer, because that’s who she is. Though she is a great lover of memorable food, for her it’s far more about the moment than the dish itself. Her style is unpretentious and all-inclusive and I believe this is the greatest thing I have absorbed from all my years in her presence.
This year, we are excited to be working with KitchenAid on a special Mother’s Day series called, “Cook for Mom.” We know a lot of you will be looking for menu inspiration this week as you plan what to cook for your mom or the mother figure in your life.

Celebrating with my mother-in-law!
“Happy Mother’s Day!” A greeting that I used to get each year. I hope and pray that I will get it again this year 2012! Then I will get some gifts too and eat out with my family.God bless and “Happy Mother’s Day” to all mothers.
I will be getting together with my mother and grandmother!! We get together every year and I always make sure to do most of the cooking and cleanup – they have done so much throughout the years and have been the glue of our family I like to cook for them as much as I can!
I will be doing whatever my mom wants! That also includes cooking her whatever her heart desires!
Looking forward to working in the garden and being treated to dinner out.
With my grandmothers gone and my mother having her hip replaced this week, Mother’s Day will likely be a low-key visit to the hospital. And planting flowers for her after she gets home.

I will be spending it with my wonderful family, going to church, probably out for lunch and then a relaxing day at home! 🙂
I’m not near my Mum, so I’ll be skyping. But I’m also cooking a meal for all my sister-in-laws and their families! Thats almost 20 people!
I saw my mom this weekend and we watched a track meet together. This weekend, I look forward to spending time with my husband and our three children. A relaxing, quiet, lovely day surrounded by family

I will be spending the weekend with my family at the Southeast Youth Championships Regatta in Sarasota. Exactly where I want to be! My mom is in CT but we spent a couple of days traveling together last month along the Emerald Coast. Priceless. Happy Mothers’ Day!

Sadly, my mom is no longer with us, but I have two daughters and will be spending the day with my oldest daughter (my youngest has to work), and then going to dinner with my husband, both daughters, and my son-in-law, at one of my favorite restaurants – Coopers Hawk Winery!! I miss my mom though, and I am sure I will spend a lot of the day thinking about what a wonderful Mother she was!

I plan to spend the day with my mother and family. Attend church and eat after morning service.
I’m going to be sitting with my feet up while my husband and brother make brunch for me and my mom (with my dad acting as sous chef).

I really don’t know. It is always a surprise but I get to spend it with my favorite people so it is always good. Sunday nights are always pizza nights (to be honest it is my favorite food). Last year we had fried chicken on a picnic for lunch which was fantastic. I am sure they have something good this year too!
Will go to church, then eat dinner with my family. Hopefully they will be cooking but we’ll see!

To be honest right now I don’t have a clue. In my small town there are no nice restaurants open on Sundays even for Mother’s Day. Hubby hasn’t said a thing and our daughter will not be home until just before Mother’s Day.
I usually leave it up to my grown kids to decide what we will do, but as they start to have their own families, I think I may need to have a back up plan! Just in case, I may go see a movie.
We’re having our mothers over and feeding them test recipes from our next cookbook.
I’m celebrating Mother’s Day with my Mom, children and family, it’s extra special this year because my daughter is celebrating her 1st Mother’s Day. Happy Mother’s Day to all.

My mother and I enjoy hiking so I’ll be hiking with her and cooking her a healthy dinner.
I graduated Grad school last year and I haven’t been able to find a job. My Mom knows if I had it I would give her the world but as I look for employment the best thing I can do now is pamper her with homemade breakfast and plenty of time together…which is priceless.
I will be having my husbands special ricotta pancakes with honeycomb butter and a large mug of Ka’u coffee. Then I plan to relax outside with some magazines.
For my Mom, I’ve made a yummy Rum Cake that is going to bring back special family memories for her and my Dad, and I got her favourite chocolates and tea. For my sweet Mother-in-law, we purchased her a gift certificate to her favourite place and are taking her out for breakfast tomorrow (we are visiting from out of town and don’t want to miss the opportunity now while we are here). As for me, I will be enjoying listening to my husband and children ‘create’ breakfast in our kitchen while I sip coffee in bed and ‘oooh and ahhh’ over all the special things they bring me. Last year my daughter made a cute cushion and my son made a clay figure of a mother pushing a boy on a swing. I’m excited to see what they have made this year.

Sigh. I’m going to be doing the first of two finals…Mothers Day will be celebrated over Memorial Day weekend when I’m finally free to relax and spend time with my mom!

I will be reminiscing. This year is special because my firstborn’s birthday falls on the day before mother’s day, just like it did the year she was born. My family isn’t the “lavish gifts on mom” type. I will enjoy my children’s homemade gifts and cards…I usually have to work for them through a scavenger hunt the two older kids dream up!
Celebrating with my children who have promised to make me both breakfast as well as dinner .. a little skeptical but I’m just happy someone else will be cooking for me. Cheers to all the moms out there…
