When Sharon and her fiancé found themselves with a freezer full of hot dogs and buns at the end of last year’s cookout season, she observed, “when push comes to shove, everyone wants hamburgers.” In this USA Weekend challenge, I decided to see if I couldn’t improve the hot dogs’ odds at this year’s cookouts.
Try out the Hawaiian Hot Dog (pictured right) or the Reuben, BLT, or Guac and Salsa Hot Dogs at your Memorial Day festivities and see if these can go head-to-head with the best burgers.
Enjoy the long weekend!

I am afraid that the burger lovers will just put all those scrumptious toppings on their burgers and still leave y’all with a freezer full of frankfurters.
But your pep talk worked for me: I haven’t had a hot dog in so long, and am really looking forward to eating some soon. Maybe if we omit burgers from the menu and just grill up veggies alongside we’ll have more takers on the hot dogs 🙂
Happy summer cooking everyone!

These hotdogs are incredible – I love that you hollow out the bun so that there’s more room for the toppings! I know I’d take any one of these over a burger.

I will take a Chicago Style Hot dog (minus the sports peppers) anytime!

These dogs look delish, and now I know what will be on the menu for my daughter’s college graduation barbecue! Thanks, ladies.

Oddly enough – I have always been one of the few who nabbed a hot dog instead of the hamburger at picnics. I don’t know why, but I always have. I simply love hot dogs.
