I knew Three Many Cook’s one-year anniversary was getting close, so I checked. Sure enough, the dates on our first posts were 9/24/09 and 10/1/09. So today—smack dab between the two—we’re celebrating with a video that, in turn, toasts my new book, Perfect One-Dish Dinners.
Parties aren’t free so kudos to my publisher, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for funding the video. Special thanks for saying yes to this project so quickly (it only took a day!). May your quick action reap the benefits.
I’m still questioning how Three Many Cooks was lucky enough to meet (let alone work with) food bloggers, photographers, and videographers Diane Cu and Todd Porter (aka White On Rice Couple).
Maggy and I connected with Todd and Diane in LA on the first leg of book tour. In less than a week, they were on a red-eye to our home in Connecticut. Forty-eight hours later this extraordinary video was sitting in our inbox. More posts on this special couple soon along with their recipe for fresh spring rolls, which they made the night we shot the video.
We love our significant others—David, Andy, and Tony—not just showing up but for always being good sports.
And finally, people make the party so thank you for joining ours this past year. As we always say: there are three cooks in our kitchen. Sometimes that’s too many, but usually it’s just right. We’re so glad you’re with us.

I love the video. I have all of your cookbooks (going on Amazon to get this one now) and can certainly hear your voice through your writing – but it’s neat to see and hear you in person. Congrats to you and your lovely daughters. 🙂

It brought tears to my eyes to see the love and sacrifice that it obviously took in making your decision (Pam) to give up a career for the love of your family. Bravo! You’re a superstar to more than just your girls. You inspire me to be a better cook and person. JimmyV

Great and touching piece. The whole family is beautiful to see together. And what amazing videographers are Diane and Todd of WORC—they created magic.

I’m not sure how it happens, but every time I watch a video that Diane and Todd put together, I cry. Those two have a way of cutting through to the heart of people and showing them as they TRULY are. Your story is beautiful and inspiring. And most of all, you give people like me FAITH in pursuing my dreams.
Thank you!

Great video. Totally worth it. I’ve seen their work before, but this is some of their best work. You three look like sooo much fun!

wow, just watched your video and was so inspired by your daughters joining you in the kitchen. it was a nice reminder to come together at the table and even better in the kitchen to join forces in feeding the family.

This is such an amazing video. It really captures how amazing all three of you are. I feel so honored to have met you and even more blessed to be able to call you friends! The cookbook is one of my favorites!

Great video. Pam, I’ve seen you make this cassoulet before–this is the one you did on TV in Chicago. And then David and Andy and Tony, too. What a treat!

Just read the article in USA Weekend Oct. 8-10 and amazed/confused that you suggested cooking the pasta right in with the sauce. Particularly after reading Jennifer Aaronson of Martha Stewart Living. She explains that the key to cooking pasta is a large pot of strongly boiling water.. That will help seal in the starch layer of the pasta. I assume you’ve tried this with success—however, do you add the six cups of water and salt (to pound of pasta) along with the two cans of crushed tomatoes???
Pam says
This totally works. Just follow the recipe simmering the sauce with the meatballs to blend flavors then add the pasta and water. It works. I promise.

What a great video! You are all adorable! I have been a fan of your cookbooks for years (and before that when you were with that food magazine). Your recipes are always foolproof and delicious! I bought your new book yesterday and have bookmarked many recipes to try! I love one dish meals (I hate cleaning up), and I am happy to have a whole book of them developed by you! Please keep them coming! 🙂

Hello Pam!
This is Deb Weber, daughter of David and Marilou Stewart. I just came upon the article about you and your new kitchen in Fine Homebuilding, and went right to your website. It is great, the video is great, yes, it is worth the time to be home with family. I heartily agree. Great to see that all is well, your new cookbook is a must for me, I must tell my Mom right away, as she is very good at getting things done, very quickly, and I am looking forward to spending some more time on your (collective your) website. Congratulations! Another winner. Hello to your kind husband, and I know my parents still miss you in Solebury. Deb

Loved this video. This is exactly what so many people in America are missing right now. Cooking, eating, and reconnecting is what life’s all about. You’re absolutely right Pam, “what is the point of an amazing career if it comes at the sacrifice of eventually losing your family?” In my eyes that’s not a career to be proud of. Thank you for taking a risk and inspiring so many people who feel stuck in their lives and face similar struggles.
My sister has two girls and has a terrible job. What she hates most about her job is the time it robs her from her girls. I hope she can leave that job one day without having to worry about putting food on the table.

wow….great video. I’m a little embarrassed to say that while I don’t always get to read your blog all the time….I had always assumed the three of you were sisters! You have a beautiful family and what a better life than spending quality time in the kitchen doing what you all love.
Tambur says
So glad I found you guys. I love watching you. It reminds me of when my family get together we spend the days in the kitchen. Laughing, cooking and being. There are 5 of us kids and the kitchen can get noisey with laughter and chaos, but is the comforting kind of chaos. I am currently overseas and watching you videos are fun and comforting. Keep it going.
Thanks!

Great video…love your site and can’t wait to get your new cookbook (requested it for Christmas!). Is that a Cold Play song in the video, and if so, what is the name of the song…love it! Thanks…

I really connected to your philosophy and have had similar situations with my weight in the past. I too have two grown daughters who just graduated from college. Your cookbook “Perfect Recipe for Losing Weight and Feeling Great” is wonderful. I love the grocery list section. Teaching us how to cook quickly with many recipe choices is such a relief. I have started your routine and am very excited. Thank you. Audrey Pincins, South Kingstown, Rhode Island

Great to hear, Audrey. Keep in touch on your journey.

Truly inspirational. Ended up here by clicking on a picture at Pinterest. Although, I am a fan on FB. I don’t really see a lot of posts in my news thread therefore I just assumed you were all really good friends. It was great to see you were mother/daughters team. Love it!
Best Wishes,
