Congratulations to Mandy, BreAnn, Grace, Amber, and Tammy, the winners of this competition!
If I had just checked the mailbox earlier on Lent Eve I would have seen Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, sooner. It arrived the night we’re supposed to empty our flour and sugar bins and use up all the excess butter to make (and overdose) on pancakes.
It was well past dinner when I gathered the mail and spied Ree’s book. Thankfully the dishes were done because once I started paging through the book that was it for the night.
The first picture that caught my eye was an incredibly well behaved bejeweled cat:
How did she get her so poised? Our Chloe would never stand for being decked out like that.
But it was her four-page Homemade Glazed Donut tutorial that made me stop. Why hadn’t I checked the mail sooner? Instead of pancakes I could have made doughnuts for dinner! It had all the same ingredients as pancakes– sugar, milk, eggs, butter, flour. Plus they’re fried, making them even more decadent for the day!
There’s another reason I should have fried up a batch of doughnuts last Tuesday night. As I later confessed on twitter, I have three weakness: potato chips, doughnuts, and a good stiff gin and tonic, and I believe we’re meant to enjoy our vices that night.
Gail of One Tough Cookie tweeted back asking if I planned to give up all three for Lent. At the time I didn’t commit, but I’m ready. Yes, I’ll give up potato chips. A reluctant yes to gin and tonics. But since I missed my shot at making doughnuts last Tuesday, I’ve allowed myself–at least today–a couple of Ree’s.
And having experienced Ree’s Homemade Glazed Doughnuts first hand, I think they’re pretty much the ultimate–pure featherlight delights, like warm Krispy Kremes rolling off the conveyer freshly showered with glaze.
Besides the perfect doughnut recipe, Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, consolidates all of your favorites from the site along with some brand new ones. (Photos too!)
There’s another reason to celebrate. Ree has generously offered Three Many Cooks five copies of her new book for a giveaway. And here’s the added incentive. Since the book isn’t officially available until March 12, five lucky winners will receive their copies a wee bit early.
To win one of the five copies of Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, simply tells us your food weakness(es). Giveaway ends Sunday March 4th at 9 PM ET and winners will be announced the next morning.
Enough! I’ve bared my soul now let’s hear from you.
I have LOTS of food weaknesses…but i’d have to say either comfort food like good ol’ chicken n dumplins OR chocolate!!!!
Cheese, crunchy food, and really good chocolate. YUM!
Brownies. I love them so much. All kinds. And they must be chewy.
Potato chips, nachos and brownies!!! Now I’m hungry…
Potatoes in any form.
well there are many but I must say dunkin donuts maple frosted donuts or enchiladas suizas
Where do I start!
I have many, I love chips! Especially with a ranch/bacon/cheese chip dip I make. I also love popcorn, but none of that fake butter microwave crap. All homemade with real butter. And sea salt. mmmm
Chocolate, and chocolate, and oh, chocolate! 😀
Too many to list!!! That’s why I am always on Weight Watchers! Fresh hot bread, good fresh donuts, Lindor Truffles, hot chocolate chip cookes, german chocolate cake, mexican food, steak and baked potatoes……. the list goes on!
Bread. And cheese. Or any delightful, horrible, guilt-inducing, but oh-so-delicious combination of the two. Moral of the story here, you can’t go wrong with a grilled cheese. Or The Bread (has everyone tried Ree’s recipe for The Bread? Do it. Now.) But I haven’t had breakfast yet this morning. So I’m going to stop talking about this before I embarrass myself.
My food weakness—-
HOT DONUTS NOW at Krispy Kreme. They MELT in your MOUTH.
I have a ton of food weaknesses and they change with my moods, but most regularly I have a hard time resisting french fries and chocolate milkshakes.
I have a weakness for anything that starts BUTTER! add garlic to it and I am salivating from the smell. Add marshmallows and rice krispies I am eating the whole batch!! I guess its that savory salty deliciousness!!! I have a for cookbooks too! I have a great collection and would love to add her to my collection so I don’t have to go on the internet to get recipes like her Knock you naked brownies …..That are FABULOUS by the way!!
Food weakness! Italian food! Bread, I love love love fresh baked bread.
My mom makes killer friend chicken. My sister and brother and I BEG her to cook it every time we all get together. And, it drives her crazy that we pick at it while she’s cooking. Gotta love her coating though…YUM!

Oh my gosh….where to begin? My biggest weakness is for baked goods. Deserts, breads, cookies. you name it! Then I love pizza. I could go on forever! LOL
Pizza! Could eat it every day.
Cheese in any form is most definitely my food weakness. Macaroni and cheese… pasta with Parmesan cheese… crackers and brie… tacos with delicious shredded cheddar… okay, I am getting hungry!
I would have to say my greatest food weakness is fresh-baked bread, still hot from the oven with butter and homemade preserves…I absolutely love Ree. I watch her show and wish I was living her kind of life. I love the country life!!
chips and dip for snacks but my favorite meal is turkey and all the trimmings…yumm
Sugar!!! yesss… any way possible please.
Pasta, Cheese, Chips and ranch dip, ranch dressing…on chicken, pizza, french fries pretty much anything. I have problems when it comes to controlling my ranch intake.
What is my food weekness?…That’s a hard question to answer because I have so many. I would have to say the one I give into the most is pizza because it’s the perfect food and can be made so many different ways. It can be simple, or fancy, thick crust, thin crust, covered in meat and cheese or vegetarian style with artichoke hearts and tomatoes and no matter how you fix it every single one of them tastes delicious.
Homemade bread. I simply cannot eat just one slice.
definitely sweets such as donuts, cakes, cookies…also breads of all kinds.
Mac and Cheese!
Brunch! I love any kind of breakfast/lunch food combo!
Cheese. Any kind, any way.
Fried anything! You fry it I will eat it!!

My weaknesses are French fries and homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and my mom’s gingersnaps.
Bread and cheese!!!
My food weakness is anything sweet. Doughnuts, cupcakes, cookies, candy. I’ve definitely got a sweet tooth.
Chocolate, Chocolate and Chocolate. I lost 50lbs last year and don’t buy the big bags anymore. If I want something, I just buy a candybar and see how long I can make it last.
All baked goodies are my food weakness.
Peanut M&Ms
Anything homemade…and my Foodsaver!! I need Ree’s cookbook so I can make some of her stuff and freeze them using my foodsaver.
I go weak in the knees for anything PASTA! XXcrossing fingers I winXX
Comfort Foods bring me to my knees! I love Fried Chicken, Creamy Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Made-from-scratch Biscuits, chicken & dumplings, hot wings (is that a comfort food??), meatloaf, goulash, chili, cheeseburgers, big-ol steak fries, oh yeah – and pasta with a white sauce, red sauce, well – any sauce you can think of….I could go on forever! I love to cook and try new recipes, and I’ve been challenging myself to make recipes that “feel” like comfort foods but are a bit healthier….it hasn’t been easy but I’ve found a few things that are pretty yummy.
Ice cream…any flavor!
Right now chocolate is calling my name! Not only can I not walk away, I am digging around looking for it! Oh boy! Better get an extra run in!

My weakness would have to be potatoes. I love them any way they are cooked …..
