Congratulations to Mandy, BreAnn, Grace, Amber, and Tammy, the winners of this competition!
If I had just checked the mailbox earlier on Lent Eve I would have seen Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, sooner. It arrived the night we’re supposed to empty our flour and sugar bins and use up all the excess butter to make (and overdose) on pancakes.
It was well past dinner when I gathered the mail and spied Ree’s book. Thankfully the dishes were done because once I started paging through the book that was it for the night.
The first picture that caught my eye was an incredibly well behaved bejeweled cat:
How did she get her so poised? Our Chloe would never stand for being decked out like that.
But it was her four-page Homemade Glazed Donut tutorial that made me stop. Why hadn’t I checked the mail sooner? Instead of pancakes I could have made doughnuts for dinner! It had all the same ingredients as pancakes– sugar, milk, eggs, butter, flour. Plus they’re fried, making them even more decadent for the day!
There’s another reason I should have fried up a batch of doughnuts last Tuesday night. As I later confessed on twitter, I have three weakness: potato chips, doughnuts, and a good stiff gin and tonic, and I believe we’re meant to enjoy our vices that night.
Gail of One Tough Cookie tweeted back asking if I planned to give up all three for Lent. At the time I didn’t commit, but I’m ready. Yes, I’ll give up potato chips. A reluctant yes to gin and tonics. But since I missed my shot at making doughnuts last Tuesday, I’ve allowed myself–at least today–a couple of Ree’s.
And having experienced Ree’s Homemade Glazed Doughnuts first hand, I think they’re pretty much the ultimate–pure featherlight delights, like warm Krispy Kremes rolling off the conveyer freshly showered with glaze.
Besides the perfect doughnut recipe, Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, consolidates all of your favorites from the site along with some brand new ones. (Photos too!)
There’s another reason to celebrate. Ree has generously offered Three Many Cooks five copies of her new book for a giveaway. And here’s the added incentive. Since the book isn’t officially available until March 12, five lucky winners will receive their copies a wee bit early.
To win one of the five copies of Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, simply tells us your food weakness(es). Giveaway ends Sunday March 4th at 9 PM ET and winners will be announced the next morning.
Enough! I’ve bared my soul now let’s hear from you.
Food weakness, oh where to begin!!! There’s chocolate (of course), a good fried chicken, warm yeast rolls, a juicy flavorful cheeseburger or grilled chicken sandwich with avocado & bacon, fajitas!! Man could this list go on for a while!!!! These are the reasons I have to work out like a mad woman so I won’t be 300 lbs. :-/
Donuts are my weakness – chocolate donuts…
My food weakness? Homemade Mac and Cheese. I made Ree’s recipe, putting my own spin on it using smoked cheddar bacon cheese!!! It was scrumptious!
Melted cheese, no matter what kind, that has been under the broiler…fortunately cholesterol isn’t an issue, at least not yet….lol

Hard to say — there are few foods I don’t like! But what I cannot resist is a really good, warm, soft cookie of any kind.
Homemade sugar cookies made from my Grandma’s recipe. My mouth is watering just thinking about them!
Oh my food weakness is most definitely homemade, full of fat, real mac & cheese! Yum, yum!
Pecan Pie. I’m a health nut and I try to find redeeming health benefits for foods I love, but there’s really nothing healthy about pecan pie. To satisfy my craving I make double decker pie… pumpkin pecan pie… bottom half is pumpkin pie (not too sweet), top half is pecan pie… it’s so good and who can deny the health benefits of pumpkin and pecans together. 🙂
Homemade bread fresh out of the oven and cookies as soon as you put them on the cooling rack! :o)
My mom’s chocolate chip cookies to this day are my food kryptonite, they’re soft melt in your mouth homemade goodness that make me answer the “Do you want some cookies?” after a big meal with an addict’s “Yes!”
Pretty much anything POTATO is my weakness! I love french fries, mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes, potato chips, etc … Dangerous!
I just love food and love to cook great stuff from great cookbooks!!!!!
French Fries… well anything fried!! You name it, if it is fried I am sold!
My food weakness is anything considered comfort food really…love some fattening, cheesy goodness 🙂
Key Lime Pie or Lemon Icebox Pie – so yummy in the Summer.
Cookie dough and Mother’s Circus Animal Cookies! NOM! I only like the white frosted cookies though so I eat all the pink ones first and save the best for last. Oh, and homemade bread. I just love food.
Oh, I forgot, anything made with chocolate too!
It is definitely not wrong to have many food weaknesses. Chocolate, ice cream, good “Chinese” takeout, the list goes on. 🙂

Cheesecake, cherries and Nutella are my weaknesses!
yeast rolls, meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans……… i’d walk all day for.
Potatoes (boil em, mash em, stick em in a stew) and Ice cream are my downfalls. Yikes!

A fresh bread basket or bowl of tortilla chips at a restaurant. Are they serious trying to keep me from eating my main entree? :p
Carbs! And chocolate.
Chocolate…and Pepsi!
My food weakness is basically anything that comes in bite size. Whether it’s chocolates, chips, fruit, nuts, etc. Bite size finger foods are definitely my vice. The worst part is, I don’t even have to love it! I’ll still snack like no tomorrow!
Food weakness: nutella on anything, including a spoon!
Thanks for this great giveaway – i love Ree and her blog…looking forward to getting to know this blog now too!
Green tomatoe parmesan, I can eat it any time, day or night. Will finish off the whole dish if no one else wants it.
