Congratulations to Mandy, BreAnn, Grace, Amber, and Tammy, the winners of this competition!
If I had just checked the mailbox earlier on Lent Eve I would have seen Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, sooner. It arrived the night we’re supposed to empty our flour and sugar bins and use up all the excess butter to make (and overdose) on pancakes.
It was well past dinner when I gathered the mail and spied Ree’s book. Thankfully the dishes were done because once I started paging through the book that was it for the night.
The first picture that caught my eye was an incredibly well behaved bejeweled cat:
How did she get her so poised? Our Chloe would never stand for being decked out like that.
But it was her four-page Homemade Glazed Donut tutorial that made me stop. Why hadn’t I checked the mail sooner? Instead of pancakes I could have made doughnuts for dinner! It had all the same ingredients as pancakes– sugar, milk, eggs, butter, flour. Plus they’re fried, making them even more decadent for the day!
There’s another reason I should have fried up a batch of doughnuts last Tuesday night. As I later confessed on twitter, I have three weakness: potato chips, doughnuts, and a good stiff gin and tonic, and I believe we’re meant to enjoy our vices that night.
Gail of One Tough Cookie tweeted back asking if I planned to give up all three for Lent. At the time I didn’t commit, but I’m ready. Yes, I’ll give up potato chips. A reluctant yes to gin and tonics. But since I missed my shot at making doughnuts last Tuesday, I’ve allowed myself–at least today–a couple of Ree’s.
And having experienced Ree’s Homemade Glazed Doughnuts first hand, I think they’re pretty much the ultimate–pure featherlight delights, like warm Krispy Kremes rolling off the conveyer freshly showered with glaze.
Besides the perfect doughnut recipe, Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, consolidates all of your favorites from the site along with some brand new ones. (Photos too!)
There’s another reason to celebrate. Ree has generously offered Three Many Cooks five copies of her new book for a giveaway. And here’s the added incentive. Since the book isn’t officially available until March 12, five lucky winners will receive their copies a wee bit early.
To win one of the five copies of Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, simply tells us your food weakness(es). Giveaway ends Sunday March 4th at 9 PM ET and winners will be announced the next morning.
Enough! I’ve bared my soul now let’s hear from you.

Chocolate Fudge….with pecans!! Yumm!!
bread! and shrimp, although not necessarily together 🙂
Oh dear. I have so many! If I had to pick just one, then I would say it would have to be fresh fruit – cantalope and watermelon – and chocolate.
My weakness is cheesy mashed patato with chili on top 🙂
Steak and mashed potatoes!!
Homemade mashed potatoes….with a lake of melted butter or gravy. YUM!
Butter! I love it on everything and cooking everything in it! So hard to stick to diets with the amount of love I have for butter!
My food weakness is mexican food and warm french bread with butter!
Air Popped Corn with real melted butter…lots of it and white cheddar seasoning!!! I can eat it ANY time of day!
Chocolate mousse and creme brulee, yummy!
There are so many things. Homemade peanut butter cookies (I can hear them calling me from downstairs now) or anything Buffalo flavored.
ah … well anything ANYTHING from her previous cookbook – but those mushrooms cooked for 9 hours drew tears of joy from everyone around my table 🙂 … oh and I have baked more of her cinnamonbuns that I can count 🙂
I adore fried chicken and mashed potatoes. I also have a weakness for fresh hot yeast bread with real butter —- ohhhhh mouth is watering now! LOVE The Pioneer Woman – with a Passion and would LOVE her book!!!
Anything salty. And anything with Bacon in it.
WOW…this is tough! tortilla chips, GOOD salsa, white caso dip, sour cream & a gold grande margarita all together! Thin mint cookies….oh yeah “HOT” Krispy Kreme Glazed donut! I know…its a crazy love! =)
Chocolate candy and baked goods…..my lenten sacrifice. Oh so difficult. I can hardly WAIT for the cookbook!

Oh, but I have so many! And the number 1 weakness IS: Chips & Salsa and Homemade Guacamole! Applause!!!!! Applause!!!!! Applause!!!!!
My food weakness is gravy! I LOVE gravy! I could just eat gravy as a food group all by itself! My grandmother used to make the best home-made gravy and I was always the first one to taste it and indulge in spoonfuls of it before it ever made it to the dinner table on the farm. My mother now makes the same gravy and I am still the first one to taste it and eat it long before the meal is served…..when I finally put it on my food, it just makes it extra yummy! Gravy is amazing and definitely my food weakness…especially home-made gravy!
Ree’s Maple Pecan scones, and cheesecake. Ohhhhhh for the love of New York cheesecake.
Cheese, bacon, chocolate, chips, ice cream, pasta, bread, spicy stuff….
Glazed doughnuts, hands down!
My weakness is breads and rolls!
Salsa. Good salsa and chips. I would and have eaten it for breakfast, lunch and dinner :0)
It depends on the time of the year. We are finishing up Girl Scout cookies sales and the variety of cookies is just overwhelming. I find myself buying a couple of boxes at a time to have on hand. Then I find myself with a cookie in each hand as I do my stuff around the house.
My main weakness is baked stuff (you name it, I’ll eat it). Thank goodness for a fast metabolism! 🙂
Chocolate and any homemade bread or rolls – need I say more???
My weaknesses are pie, chocolate chip cookies & fresh crusty bread. Can’t wait to get my own copy of Ree’s new book.
Chips, Cheese & Salsa. The white queso. So delicious!!
Peanut butter anything, especially with chocolate.
Sweets – specifically Buckeyes at Christmas time, and Reese’s eggs at Easter. (Man, Reese’s never tasted so good!)
And, fried foods. Pretty much anything that a normal person would pause and say, “Hmm maybe I shouldn’t have this.” I just can’t help myself! 🙂
I have so many food weaknesses! The top ones are Doritos (I’ll eat an entire bag in one sitting if I’m not paying attention), chocolate chip cookies, and Ree’s chicken pot pie. I actually make extra filling so that I can eat it on crackers, toast, chips… whatever is handy.
Potato chips with french onion dip, preferably Helluva Good! And tortilla chips with salsa or taco dip. Heck, just any chippy, crunchy snack dipped in some kind of creamy goodness. I have no willpower. I have the thighs to prove it.
White cheddar popcorn!
My food weekness is candy! I have also given this up for Lent this year in hopes of getting it under control! Anything (especially chocolate candy) that I can up wrap and enjoy the yummy sweetness is a TOTAL weakness for me!
Chocolate…. I just can’t say no!
Chocolate, most sweets really. And fresh breads. And pizza. Dangerous, dangerous foods for me 🙂
I have too many to name, but my short list of food weaknesses would include: sweet potato fries, sparkling drinks (cider, champagne, etc.) homemade pies, buttery croissants, fried potatoes, any kind of cheese, gooey desserts, and almost anything by The Pioneer Woman!
Pretty much anything that contains pineapple. I LOVE pineapple!!!
Chocolate is my weakness…I love baking with chocolate and love to eat it.
Potato Chips and ice cream.
My weakness are potato chips. I love them! I like to eat them on everything, lol, especially my sandwiches. 🙂
Lindt chocolate bunnies!
