Congratulations to Mandy, BreAnn, Grace, Amber, and Tammy, the winners of this competition!
If I had just checked the mailbox earlier on Lent Eve I would have seen Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, sooner. It arrived the night we’re supposed to empty our flour and sugar bins and use up all the excess butter to make (and overdose) on pancakes.
It was well past dinner when I gathered the mail and spied Ree’s book. Thankfully the dishes were done because once I started paging through the book that was it for the night.
The first picture that caught my eye was an incredibly well behaved bejeweled cat:
How did she get her so poised? Our Chloe would never stand for being decked out like that.
But it was her four-page Homemade Glazed Donut tutorial that made me stop. Why hadn’t I checked the mail sooner? Instead of pancakes I could have made doughnuts for dinner! It had all the same ingredients as pancakes– sugar, milk, eggs, butter, flour. Plus they’re fried, making them even more decadent for the day!
There’s another reason I should have fried up a batch of doughnuts last Tuesday night. As I later confessed on twitter, I have three weakness: potato chips, doughnuts, and a good stiff gin and tonic, and I believe we’re meant to enjoy our vices that night.
Gail of One Tough Cookie tweeted back asking if I planned to give up all three for Lent. At the time I didn’t commit, but I’m ready. Yes, I’ll give up potato chips. A reluctant yes to gin and tonics. But since I missed my shot at making doughnuts last Tuesday, I’ve allowed myself–at least today–a couple of Ree’s.
And having experienced Ree’s Homemade Glazed Doughnuts first hand, I think they’re pretty much the ultimate–pure featherlight delights, like warm Krispy Kremes rolling off the conveyer freshly showered with glaze.
Besides the perfect doughnut recipe, Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, consolidates all of your favorites from the site along with some brand new ones. (Photos too!)
There’s another reason to celebrate. Ree has generously offered Three Many Cooks five copies of her new book for a giveaway. And here’s the added incentive. Since the book isn’t officially available until March 12, five lucky winners will receive their copies a wee bit early.
To win one of the five copies of Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, simply tells us your food weakness(es). Giveaway ends Sunday March 4th at 9 PM ET and winners will be announced the next morning.
Enough! I’ve bared my soul now let’s hear from you.
Bread and cheese, chips and salsa, chocolate chip cookies and anything caramel!
Cheese, cheese, and more cheese! Almost ANYthing with cheese on it or flavored with cheese!
Margaritas!
Ice cream!
My current food weakness is Ree’s Cinnamon Roll recipe! OMG, I cannot stop making them!!! And a batch makes so many! Perfect for sharing with family! I can’t wait to get my hands on Ree’s new book … she has totally changed my cooking ways … for the better!
Pasta…..with butter, cream, cheese, wine and any kind of seafood. When I cheat……. I cheat Big!!!!
Ruffles potato chips, with homemade ranch dressing for dip and a COLD mountain dew on the side…logging off for a snack now 😛
My weakness is ice cream! Any flavor and anytime of the day! 🙂
Brownies are my weakness. Any kind as long as they don’t have nuts in them. Mmmmm. Donuts would come in as a close second though.
Anything sweet that is laying around the house…this is a very bad thing
apple fritters….ahh, apple fritters….
and I suppose a stiff gin and tonic, too, but I don’t really consider that a weakness, more just a personality trait 😉
Carbs.
Definitely truffles of any kind. I have no control. 🙂
Oh, salty, crunchy things… really well-done fries, nuts, chips, especially chips with lots of some sort of flavoring on them, be it nacho cheese or sour cream and onion. It is SHAMEFUL how mindlessly I can eat that stuff! 😉
My weakness is sweets…..cake, ice cream, anything sweet!
Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate!!
My weakness is a big pan of gooey, chocolatey, warm brownies. I simply can’t say “no” 🙂
Food weakness…man hard to pick just one.
But French Fries.
Love love love french fries.
haven’t had any in over a month and I am craving them like crazy!!!!!!!!
My weakness definitely has to be glazed apple fritters and big, fat chewy chocolate chip cookies. Yummy!
Cookies are the weakness in my house. They are so easy to grab for a carb/sugar craving. And delicious with milk or ice cream, don’t last long in this house.
My food weaknesses are pizza, ice cream, anything from Starbucks, and Crunch ‘n Munch caramel toffee popcorn with peanuts.
BREAD. The reason for so many take-out boxes when I go out… filling up on the buttery (and free!) carbs.
Warm bread (make it banana bread and I’m doomed)
Ice cream (which is why I can’t keep in my house)
And caramel rolls. A bad morning can always be picked up by a caramel roll.
My weakness is fresh homemade bread.
Coffee and Desserts!
Cookies and cream ice cream! It’s always my #1 choice when we go out!
Ice cream! Definitely a weakness – especially PeanutButter Pandemonium.
My second weakness: Brie. Baked brie with honey… and maybe a few walnuts….. THE BEST!
And third: really really good pesto. The homemade kind with pine nuts.
Two soft slices of white bread, one slice covered with peanut butter, a good sized slathering of miracle whip (or mayo) and lots of crisp lettuce. The bestest sandwich ever.
My food weakness is Mexican food. I promise I could eat it every single day!!
Cake, ice cream, pie… basically anything homemade! Not a big candy eater but baked goods are my waistline’s worst enemy!!
I adore cheese and try not to keep it in the house, but my true kryptonite are cookies. It doesn’t matter what kind of cookie it is, if it is in my house I have to eat ALL of them!
My weaknesses are…buttery potatoes, hot sweet buns, and Jacques Torres Wicked hot chocolate!
I am a foodie with very few dislikes! I do love a good apple pie that reminds me of my mom and her awesome cooking skills, reminders of my past, and just how much fun I have in the kitchen with my two, almost grown and gone from home, daughters! I LOVE trying new recipes as often as I can and am blessed to have a wonderful husband who loves to eat my new creations and then shower me with compliments….but can also let me know when something doesn’t really need to be served again (which doesn’t happen often!)….LOVED the first PW cookbook so look forward to this new one!
Doughnuts.
I simply love doughnuts!!
Chocolate, of course is my weakness.. Just give me a 9 x 13 Chocolate Cake, and a big glass of milk, and I’m set!!! Love it!!
Potato skins wih extra sour cream, bacon and scallions!!!
I’ve never met a cookie I didn’t like. Or a warm garlic breadstick. Or cake batter. And who doesn’t love chicken wings. I mean, seriously. Yummy.
And now that I have a 10 month old, I’m loving Gerber stage 3 Hawaiian delight. Don’t judge me.
Frosted anglefood cake. With 7 minute frosting. Love it!!
Chocolate, especially quality chocolate.
And chips–if there is an open bag in the cupboard, beware! I find myself constantly snitching one here or there…
Oh my. Cheese is a huge one. Also baked goods of just about any kind.
I think one of my weaknesses has got to be Roast beef cooked about medium! Whether it be a roast, prime rib or a really good steak, give me some pink with a good crust of salt, pepper and garlic and I’m in Heaven!!!
Ice cream, apples with peanut butter, and Chipolte!
Baked goods. Any and all.
Being from Wisconsin we are spoiled with the World’s best cheese – it is my weakness. Brings me to my knees!
Chocolate cake – frosted or not, just melt in your mouth delicious!
My 3 weaknesses are:
Pizza
Cheesecake
Bacon
Not necessarily in that order. 🙂
My huge food weakness is any kind of macaroni & cheese dish.. Homemade with real cheeses is the bomb.
Desserts – anything chocolate! 🙂

I’m a Chip girl.. or crackers with cheese.
