Congratulations to Mandy, BreAnn, Grace, Amber, and Tammy, the winners of this competition!
If I had just checked the mailbox earlier on Lent Eve I would have seen Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, sooner. It arrived the night we’re supposed to empty our flour and sugar bins and use up all the excess butter to make (and overdose) on pancakes.
It was well past dinner when I gathered the mail and spied Ree’s book. Thankfully the dishes were done because once I started paging through the book that was it for the night.
The first picture that caught my eye was an incredibly well behaved bejeweled cat:
How did she get her so poised? Our Chloe would never stand for being decked out like that.
But it was her four-page Homemade Glazed Donut tutorial that made me stop. Why hadn’t I checked the mail sooner? Instead of pancakes I could have made doughnuts for dinner! It had all the same ingredients as pancakes– sugar, milk, eggs, butter, flour. Plus they’re fried, making them even more decadent for the day!
There’s another reason I should have fried up a batch of doughnuts last Tuesday night. As I later confessed on twitter, I have three weakness: potato chips, doughnuts, and a good stiff gin and tonic, and I believe we’re meant to enjoy our vices that night.
Gail of One Tough Cookie tweeted back asking if I planned to give up all three for Lent. At the time I didn’t commit, but I’m ready. Yes, I’ll give up potato chips. A reluctant yes to gin and tonics. But since I missed my shot at making doughnuts last Tuesday, I’ve allowed myself–at least today–a couple of Ree’s.
And having experienced Ree’s Homemade Glazed Doughnuts first hand, I think they’re pretty much the ultimate–pure featherlight delights, like warm Krispy Kremes rolling off the conveyer freshly showered with glaze.
Besides the perfect doughnut recipe, Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, consolidates all of your favorites from the site along with some brand new ones. (Photos too!)
There’s another reason to celebrate. Ree has generously offered Three Many Cooks five copies of her new book for a giveaway. And here’s the added incentive. Since the book isn’t officially available until March 12, five lucky winners will receive their copies a wee bit early.
To win one of the five copies of Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, simply tells us your food weakness(es). Giveaway ends Sunday March 4th at 9 PM ET and winners will be announced the next morning.
Enough! I’ve bared my soul now let’s hear from you.
I love chocolate, brownies, cupcakes, homemade noodles, fresh bread and gnocchi.
My food weakness is homemade mashed potatoes. I just can’t say no!
Cheese! I can’t resist or step away from lol! Mac n cheese, cheese on cheese, on chili, with hot sauce and crackers! love it!
McDonald’s french fries !!!
chips, rice krispy treats, ribs, french fries, and cheese (on fries, on pizza, on pasta, on anything, by itself… all the time)!
CHOCOLATE!! Anything and everything chocolate is my weakness. I can’t get enough!
Chicken Tortilla Soup…I crave it atleast once a week!!
Dubble Bubble bubble gum, pumpkin seeds, and my mom’s tacos! Yum!!
Home baked goodies are so yummy I can’t resist. The picture above brings back so many fond childhood memories of my mom’s baking. She had the same green bowl as in the picture above. It is one of the things I have kept and will pass it down to my daughter now that she is learning to bake. Three generations of dessert bakers with the same bowl. How cool is that?
Cheese and crackers gets me every time… Almost any kind of crackers – almost any kind of cheese. Serious weakness!
Anything with cheese on it… literally. It could be the worst dish ever, but if you put cheese on it, I will eat it. My digestive tract hates me for it, too.
Cheese! or anything dairy.
Potato Chips..Crispy, salty..They call my name!
I like activity food, anything that I get to dip. Nachos are probably my fav!
Anything pasta just cooked and cooling, also almonds….yum, yum……..homemade bread and buns just out of the oven cannot be
resisted!
Wow. Where to begin…;-) One of my biggest food weaknesses is chocolate (except white chocolate, which isn’t REALLY chocolate, so…)with nuts. I can resist chocolate without nuts, but put nuts in the chocolate, and somehow it becomes irresistible to me. Another magnet hard to avoid for me is a soft, buttery bread. One of my aunts once made Monkey Bread for us when I was around 13 yrs. old, and I am now in my 40’s, but I’ve never forgotten how good it was- soft, buttery goodness to die for. It tasted like a soft French bread. My mouth is watering, just thinking of it.
Mmmmm, twice-baked potatoes loaded with butter, cheese, sour cream and bacon.
Pizza. I love it, all differents kinds and flavors.
My weakness is anything with yeast! I love homemade bread, rolls, pizza….
dont think my original comment made it on here since my wireless router has gone haywire…so anywho….i am an admitted carb addict..pasta, potatoes, chips and GOOD bread 🙂
Chocolate and Peanut Butter are my biggest weaknesses!
I can’t walk away from spicy Thai food!!!!! Love me some curry! 🙂
Brach’s Chocolate Covered Malted Milk Ball Eggs…on my, it’s a good thing they are only available around Easter!! And I might add…anything SWEET!
Cheese popcorn made with the Kraft Mac & Cheese powder.
Anything chocolate is my weakness.
Sweets! Sometimes chocolate – other times Jelly Bellies – often some wonderful recipe from my mom – impulse buys – did I mention baklava – am I running out of space?
I could eat fried potatoes every day and still want more! Ree’s Cinnamon Rolls are a very close second.
Chocolate chip cookie! I am a real life cookie monster
flaming hot chips, fresh bread and homemade chicken fingers, mashed potatoes and gravy.
Ohh dear!! Baguette dipped in olive oil, chewy oatmeal cookies (and the more bits stirred into them, the weaker I get..) and good milk chocolate.
Anything with melted cheese. I always have to throw an extra handful on any casserole I make. It’s just oh so good. 🙂
Too many to list! That is why I am always returning to Weight Watchers! Fresh hot bread with melted butter, chicken fried steak with cream gravy, mexican food, do-nuts, hot chocolate chip cookies, german chocolate cake, etc., etc.
I cannot resist bread! Or frosted sugar cookies!
Any Carb known……
Butter! I love lots of butter in/on everything especially on the light wheat homemade bread I make every weekend!
fresh from the oven chocolate chip cookies
Cheesecake, fresh bread, pasta, notice a trend here:) I can’t stay away from any great food!
Chocolate is my big weakness and coffee.
A good loaf of rustic bread…..I can taste it before it’s even sliced!
Chocolate….anything dipped, slathered and smothered in chocolate.
Chocolate chip cookies and potato chips, together.
Pretzels!! I love pretzels!!!!
chips / salsa and guacamole
French Fries and Wine!
hm… So many! I think it would have to be chocolate or guacamole! I could eat them all day (not together of course)!
Oh my, the donuts looks delicious!
Pasta… almost anything pasta… from summer salads to spaghetti to fetticini alfredo to lasanga. When I was on a strict diet a couple years ago, my dr said.. the body really never needs bread or pasta… it goes straight to your hips and butt… and he’s probably right, but it’s still my weakness!
Pasta and Sauce…I could eat Pasta for breakfast, lunch and dinner…And I can’t stop at one plate ever.
Potatoes of any kind! I’ve said, If I died eating french fries I would die a happy women.
My food weakness is pasta!
