Congratulations to Mandy, BreAnn, Grace, Amber, and Tammy, the winners of this competition!
If I had just checked the mailbox earlier on Lent Eve I would have seen Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, sooner. It arrived the night we’re supposed to empty our flour and sugar bins and use up all the excess butter to make (and overdose) on pancakes.
It was well past dinner when I gathered the mail and spied Ree’s book. Thankfully the dishes were done because once I started paging through the book that was it for the night.
The first picture that caught my eye was an incredibly well behaved bejeweled cat:
How did she get her so poised? Our Chloe would never stand for being decked out like that.
But it was her four-page Homemade Glazed Donut tutorial that made me stop. Why hadn’t I checked the mail sooner? Instead of pancakes I could have made doughnuts for dinner! It had all the same ingredients as pancakes– sugar, milk, eggs, butter, flour. Plus they’re fried, making them even more decadent for the day!
There’s another reason I should have fried up a batch of doughnuts last Tuesday night. As I later confessed on twitter, I have three weakness: potato chips, doughnuts, and a good stiff gin and tonic, and I believe we’re meant to enjoy our vices that night.
Gail of One Tough Cookie tweeted back asking if I planned to give up all three for Lent. At the time I didn’t commit, but I’m ready. Yes, I’ll give up potato chips. A reluctant yes to gin and tonics. But since I missed my shot at making doughnuts last Tuesday, I’ve allowed myself–at least today–a couple of Ree’s.
And having experienced Ree’s Homemade Glazed Doughnuts first hand, I think they’re pretty much the ultimate–pure featherlight delights, like warm Krispy Kremes rolling off the conveyer freshly showered with glaze.
Besides the perfect doughnut recipe, Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, consolidates all of your favorites from the site along with some brand new ones. (Photos too!)
There’s another reason to celebrate. Ree has generously offered Three Many Cooks five copies of her new book for a giveaway. And here’s the added incentive. Since the book isn’t officially available until March 12, five lucky winners will receive their copies a wee bit early.
To win one of the five copies of Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, simply tells us your food weakness(es). Giveaway ends Sunday March 4th at 9 PM ET and winners will be announced the next morning.
Enough! I’ve bared my soul now let’s hear from you.
Brownies!!!
fresh bread is something i always gravitate towards and can never leave alone
Tortilla chips and homeade salsa is my weekness, I just can’t stop once I start eating them.
Potato chips are my downfall! Oh, and chocolate!! Oh, and some wine!! But not all together
Salsa and chips. Fresh yummy spicy salsa…crisp salty corn chips. Love!
Chocolate anything…
Dip. Doesn’t matter what kind, there is always something unique that goes perfectly with it and can hold a lot of it. I am a healthy eater but I do not have much desire to say no to dip. 🙂
Anything chocolate and peanut butter!
baked goods for sure….cinnamon rolls, muffins, cakes, yumm. so much i have been making healthier versions of many recipes that i love.
Cheese, and salty snacks. Chips, pretzels… mmmmm
Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups.
And feta. I’m a sucker for feta!
Fresh bread, homemade chocolate-hazelnut spread, crystallized ginger, and dried apricots (not at the same time!).
My absolute weakness is a glazed donut from Wawa. Oh and bacon, always bacon.
Peanut butter! I would eat it on just about anything!
Bread and cheese. And lately medjool dates!
my ultimate food weakness is a creme filled doughnut – not the custard-like filling, but the white, fluffy, frosting-like stuff. We have a store that makes jumbo sized ones and I will go out of my way to get one on a bad day. If it’s a REALLY bad day, I might zip over to McDonald’s for some hot salty fries to go with the doughnut.
Pumpkin Pie, Pineapple up side =down cake and fried chicken!!! Butter!!!!
Pasta is my weakness. I just can’t help it! There’s so much you can do with it. Alfredo, lasagna, cold salad, spaghetti, stuffed shells, the list goes on and on. And I just can’t have a little, I have to have a big bowl of alfredo and penne. Along with extra parmesan, a slice of french bread and a slab of butter! Oh the madness!
Cheese…
And ice cream :/
Hands down–potato chips!
Warm, ooey, gooey, cinnamin rolls. I can smell them now.
Pasta is my weakness. Bring on the colored rotini noodles and house Italian dressing. Yummy!
My weakness is… well, just about anything, sadly. But I would say it’s impossible for me to turn down New York style cheesecake.
Hershey’s Milk Chocolate and Almond nuggets. And I love rosemary artisan bread. Once I start eating the yummy bread dipped in olive oil, I’m a goner.
Cinnamon Rolls…..no raisins or nuts, please! 🙂
Homemade bread…. brownie edges…med rare filet mingnon….fettucini noodles with gorgenzola sauce… goodness I’m getting hungry…..
Italian restaurants that serve bread and butter!
Hummus. Hot, fresh, Krispy Kreme donuts. Sushi. Place any of these three things in front of me, stand back, and witness the carnage! Yum!
Peanut butter. Hands down. Chocolate with it doesn’t hurt, but I don’t think I could live without peanut butter.
My food weaknesses are… Well everything… I have Rees cookbook on my counter at all times. It is a mess and I wouldn’t want it any other way.. I received it from my best friend after my husband and I split.. It made me laugh and cry for her to think of me… Getting off topic here but I love food. I wish I was as half as good as Ree .. She cooks the absolute best. Ree you are my idol thank you for being a big part of my life.
Chocolate — dark, milk, white, doesn’t matter — in any form, just soothes my soul.
Ice cream, gelato, and most things chocolate!
Fried chicken, cheesecake, and I gotta have my Pepsi!
My weakness – CHEESECAKE, CHEESECAKE and then there’s CHEESECAKE!!! Did I mention that I really love CHEESECAKE. Hell for me would be CHEESECAKE in the world!
Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate…….
Chocolate, then a really good steak.
Chips and homemade salsa, chocolate & now that I’ve discovered her, just about any dessert the Pioneer Woman comes up with!
lemon meringue pie, lemon bars, lemon chicken, lemon….
Potatoe Chps..Salty, crispy and delicious..Love Em and Can’t resist!
My food weakness is dumplings! I love a big pot of comforting chicken and dumplings! :))
Fried Chicken and chocolate are tied in first place for me! PIzza and cheese tie in second place! Oh how I love food!
anything blessed with a sweet & salty combination!
My weakness is pizza. I love it, and probably have it at least once a week. it has to be good pizza though, or homemade on a stone.
My weakness is anything with cheesy ooozie goodness..like cheesey bread or cheesey noodles or cheesey eggs…love by carbs!!
Tortilla chips and salsa!
green chile (not the canned stuff), fresh fennel, cheescake, the frosting for german chocolate cake…unsugared fresh brewed strong ice tea…
Weakness(es). This is a topic of plurals. Cheeses, Wines, Chocolates, Carbs (in any form), Cookies, Cakes, Coconuts, and anything with Nutella or Biscoff.
I am a carb craver. Chocolate holds nowhere near the power of amazing bread with nothing but the best olive oils for dipping and or of course softened salted 100% natural butter. Yum. Either I refuse the bread basket or order an entire bread basket for myself.
Fresh baked cookies or pecan pie….either and I could eat my weight in it…
To be brutally honest…anything with the words “Little” and “Debbie” involved…that’s why she’s not allowed in the house!!!
