Congratulations to Mandy, BreAnn, Grace, Amber, and Tammy, the winners of this competition!
If I had just checked the mailbox earlier on Lent Eve I would have seen Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, sooner. It arrived the night we’re supposed to empty our flour and sugar bins and use up all the excess butter to make (and overdose) on pancakes.
It was well past dinner when I gathered the mail and spied Ree’s book. Thankfully the dishes were done because once I started paging through the book that was it for the night.
The first picture that caught my eye was an incredibly well behaved bejeweled cat:
How did she get her so poised? Our Chloe would never stand for being decked out like that.
But it was her four-page Homemade Glazed Donut tutorial that made me stop. Why hadn’t I checked the mail sooner? Instead of pancakes I could have made doughnuts for dinner! It had all the same ingredients as pancakes– sugar, milk, eggs, butter, flour. Plus they’re fried, making them even more decadent for the day!
There’s another reason I should have fried up a batch of doughnuts last Tuesday night. As I later confessed on twitter, I have three weakness: potato chips, doughnuts, and a good stiff gin and tonic, and I believe we’re meant to enjoy our vices that night.
Gail of One Tough Cookie tweeted back asking if I planned to give up all three for Lent. At the time I didn’t commit, but I’m ready. Yes, I’ll give up potato chips. A reluctant yes to gin and tonics. But since I missed my shot at making doughnuts last Tuesday, I’ve allowed myself–at least today–a couple of Ree’s.
And having experienced Ree’s Homemade Glazed Doughnuts first hand, I think they’re pretty much the ultimate–pure featherlight delights, like warm Krispy Kremes rolling off the conveyer freshly showered with glaze.
Besides the perfect doughnut recipe, Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, consolidates all of your favorites from the site along with some brand new ones. (Photos too!)
There’s another reason to celebrate. Ree has generously offered Three Many Cooks five copies of her new book for a giveaway. And here’s the added incentive. Since the book isn’t officially available until March 12, five lucky winners will receive their copies a wee bit early.
To win one of the five copies of Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, simply tells us your food weakness(es). Giveaway ends Sunday March 4th at 9 PM ET and winners will be announced the next morning.
Enough! I’ve bared my soul now let’s hear from you.
BBQ pork anything! Im not a big BBQ fan, but when its baked, grilled, or served any way, Im a sucker for 2nds!
Mmm. food! My biggest vice is Pizza. I could probably eat it every single day and not get bored with it! I’m not super huge on sweets but I love a good doughnut! I’m pregnant right now so I’m enjoying food lol Happy Eating!

Oh i am so on the same page as you with the potato chips. I am a sucker everytime and I never can eat just one!
Mexican food of any kind – I simply cannot resist!
Tacos actually more like Mexican food. I can’t get enough. Also Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. They are sooooooooo good. i can’t help myself.
pasta, ummmmmmm, fried chicken, ohhh mashed potatoes and gravy
Weakness: anything that contains carbohydrates….unfortunate for my waistline.
Food weaknesses, now that’s a topic I can go on and on about. I’ll narrow it to the top two though, for time’s sake. I am a carb lover. I could die happy with a big, warm, crusty baguette and block of butter honestly. I recently made my own baguette for the first time and had a hallelujah moment. True story. There’s just something about that warm, yeasty smell that makes everything in the world okay. Husband’s late getting home from work, eat bread. Your best friend won’t listen to your advice and dump that zero boyfriend, eat bread. You in-law’s are, yet again, late to babysit, eat bread. Baby’s crying for no reason, eat bread, and give him some too! But woman cannot live on bread alone (sadly), so that’s why there is chocolate in the world. That would be my second weakness. And I’m not even talking the expensive, designer, artisanal chocolates, ANY chocolate. While pregnant, I sat with a huge bar of dark chocolate and a tub of peanut butter, just dipping and enjoying. So there you go, I confess, I’m a warm-out-of-the-oven-bread-and-delicious-melty-chocolate-lover.
Bread. Homemade. Toasted. REAL Butter.
Oh. My.
I LOVE Japanese food. I also love chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cookies and no bakes like Gran used to make.
Fresh warm biscuits with homemade strawberry jam, chocolate chip pancakes, and devils food cake with whipped cream.
I would have to say that anything chocolate is my biggest weakness…followed by cheese. Sometimes, too much of a good thing can be absolutely wonderful!
Cabury Mini Eggs. Not the ones with the gooey center–those are way too sweet–but the little ones with the crisp candy shell. Just the smell of those things is enough to send me through the roof, and I’m not normally a big chocolate lover.
My food weakness? Pumpkin Pie. I cannot pass it up. I will eat it until it is gone and still want more. My mama used to make me my own for the holidays.
Anything at 3:30 in the afternoon… for 36 years I have had an after school snack and I need a sweet fix everyday at 3:30! Anything chocolate is my preferred choice. But some marshmallow cream on a graham cracker is pretty good too!
Anything with potatoes and cheese is my weakness. I love them together and apart. Sour Cream is a close third.
my ultimate food weaknesses are cheese and butter. i could have desserts all over my house and go for the cheese and butter every time. i just threw out half of a 2 week old birthday cake…
Anything with pasta and cheese!
Chinese food! whether I make it or get it from a restaurant I am under it’s spell and could eat it EVERYDAY 🙂 !

All things fried. Especially chicken wings 🙂
Potatoes of any kind: chips, fries, roasted, sauteed, baked, mashed, herbed, buttered, salted, with cheese, any kind of potato. My mom was the same way.
Deep, dark chocolate with a little pinch of salt. Sweet & salty is my weakness!!!
My unusual food weakness is Cream Of Wheat. I know, not a ‘sin’ but I never run in to people who LOVE it.
My sinful food weakness, could be defined simply as ‘salt’. My daddy’s favorite snacks are pretzels, popcorn and peanuts. I suppose it’s in the genes, but I really do love dry roasted peanuts, I could facebook all day long with a jar of nuts on my desk, they’d magically disappear, and I’d blame house elves.
My ‘when I can afford it weakness is a really good quality cheesecake. I am glad I’m broke most of the time!
Anything chocolate!
Nutella anything….addicting
Seeing as I’m 7 months pregnant, my “weakness” food has become whatever deep-fried, thoroughly bad for me, “are we sure there is food underneath all that preservative” food that I am craving at a particular moment. Case in point? Today I am craving McDonald’s Chicken nuggets. I don’t like McDonald’s, and I haven’t eaten there in years. Yet, Chicken McNuggets are on my brain and I won’t be able to get them off until I get them in my stomach!
When I’m not preggo, I’m a sucker for artichoke dip with sour dough bread, dr. pepper, and mint chocolate chip ice cream. YUM!
Her Tomato Soup is a household favorite and cooked often!!!
Chocolate ~ anything Chocolate…brownies, cake, cookies, candy!!
My big weakness is anything with a cheesy sauce! Alfredo, chedder, it doesn’t matter. I love them all!
Tortillas & butter.
Doughnuts are high on my list, too. Mashed potatoes – especially with cheese, or bacon stirred in. I can eat way too many of those!
Anything salty and crunchy, in particular tortilla chips or popcorn.
My food weakness is salsa. I have to put salsa on everything and I love to make a big batch of salsa (Ree’s recipe!) and gobble it up with a bag of chips.
Baked potatoes, a great filet, grilled chicken, thin crust pizza, warm chocoloate chip cookies…….diet coke.
Pioneer Woman’s Olive Cheese Bread
I LOVE sweets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Baked goods of any kind are the best.
potato chips, my mom’s banana cake with double icing (layer of almond icing, then a layer of chocolate icing), and of all things, potstickers/dumplings.
Carbs…and butter. I’m sure there are others, but seriously. Fresh baked bread spread with butter!? How can a girl resist?
