Congratulations to Mandy, BreAnn, Grace, Amber, and Tammy, the winners of this competition!
If I had just checked the mailbox earlier on Lent Eve I would have seen Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, sooner. It arrived the night we’re supposed to empty our flour and sugar bins and use up all the excess butter to make (and overdose) on pancakes.
It was well past dinner when I gathered the mail and spied Ree’s book. Thankfully the dishes were done because once I started paging through the book that was it for the night.
The first picture that caught my eye was an incredibly well behaved bejeweled cat:
How did she get her so poised? Our Chloe would never stand for being decked out like that.
But it was her four-page Homemade Glazed Donut tutorial that made me stop. Why hadn’t I checked the mail sooner? Instead of pancakes I could have made doughnuts for dinner! It had all the same ingredients as pancakes– sugar, milk, eggs, butter, flour. Plus they’re fried, making them even more decadent for the day!
There’s another reason I should have fried up a batch of doughnuts last Tuesday night. As I later confessed on twitter, I have three weakness: potato chips, doughnuts, and a good stiff gin and tonic, and I believe we’re meant to enjoy our vices that night.
Gail of One Tough Cookie tweeted back asking if I planned to give up all three for Lent. At the time I didn’t commit, but I’m ready. Yes, I’ll give up potato chips. A reluctant yes to gin and tonics. But since I missed my shot at making doughnuts last Tuesday, I’ve allowed myself–at least today–a couple of Ree’s.
And having experienced Ree’s Homemade Glazed Doughnuts first hand, I think they’re pretty much the ultimate–pure featherlight delights, like warm Krispy Kremes rolling off the conveyer freshly showered with glaze.
Besides the perfect doughnut recipe, Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, consolidates all of your favorites from the site along with some brand new ones. (Photos too!)
There’s another reason to celebrate. Ree has generously offered Three Many Cooks five copies of her new book for a giveaway. And here’s the added incentive. Since the book isn’t officially available until March 12, five lucky winners will receive their copies a wee bit early.
To win one of the five copies of Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, simply tells us your food weakness(es). Giveaway ends Sunday March 4th at 9 PM ET and winners will be announced the next morning.
Enough! I’ve bared my soul now let’s hear from you.
I think chocolate and peanut butter…together! kind of depends on my mood tho too, sometimes i just cant pass up just plain old home cooked meals like mashed potatoes with yummy ham or my daughters home made cinnamon rolls(she’s 15 and yes she uses pioneer woman recipe!)
Key lime pie, or key lime anything! Oh the shame of confession! 🙂
Just pointing out–March 5 is Monday. It’s my anniversary, so I know. 🙂
My food cravings vary, but I’m always weak for cheesy things–other than cheese popcorn, which I can’t stand–like cheese crackers, or chips, or cheese on crackers–I will make stacks of saltines with cheese on them and eat them one at a time. I also love peanut butter and chocolate, or caramel and chocolate, or orange and chocolate, or…well, just plain chocolate. I have not yet tried cheese dipped in chocolate, although I did see it in a magazine I bought yesterday. And I dare not even try chocolate-dipped bacon.
Donuts,Donuts,Donuts
Tacos!! Or pizza…
Anything salty 🙂
My Weakness: From my Southern Roots – Fried Chicken, From my Southern CA stint – Tacos, From my current Midwest home of Wisconsin-Fried Cheese Curds

Definitely anything sweet. I love to bake but am diabetic and so I usually have to send the baked goods with my husband to his office. I take one piece then give the rest away!
Ok hear it is Chinese Food! My brother and I where rewarded with our choice of restaurant to go eat at by dad. For 10 excellence stars in a row from our guitar teacher we would get to choose, for my brother it was always The Plainsman a fancy buffet style restaurant. For me it was always the family’s favourite chinese buffet restaurant. Both of my pregnancies 21 and 18 yrs ago,Yup chinese food(fried rice) mostly. There is my confession with a long story to boot!! lol. 🙂
Today, it’s hummus and pita chips. The 165865151 garlic clove one. Yeah.
Chocolate! Pizza! Pasta! Fair food!
Chocolate is my absolute favorite!!
Wow….where do I begin? haha Donuts are definitely high up there on the list of weaknesses. Since you did three, I’ll try to do the same. Hmmm. Guess I’ll have to go with Pizza (any shape, size, and/or flavor), chocolate (milk, dark, whatever!), and a double shot of Southern Comfort on the rocks with a twist. Actually, that sounds like a meal I could really get into! 🙂
Thanks for the chance to win this cookbook! I am sooo looking forward to it coming out and will definitely be purchasing one for myself (unless I win!!) and also a couple for gifts.
My newest weakness muffins! I have found that I have a knack for making them and everyone loves them. I have gotten some terrific new recipes for different flavors and am working my way through the pile, baking a batch and taking surveys from my family on which ones they prefer. I also want to try Asian cooking and your recipe for the Pork Tenderloin is just the ticket! Thank you so much for your lovely recipes. I have enjoyed many PW dishes since I “found” you and your website!
NACHOS! MMMMM!
I have too many! Cheesecake, doughnuts, cookies, cupcakes, candy. Can’t choose!

Lately, chocolate. I know I have to stop sticking my hand in the bag and eating it, but I can’t!

I take after my mother 🙂 And I am not just saying this….since I bought Ree’s first cookbook, I have been making all her recipes…and my family loves them…weakness for her mashed potatoes, creamy rosemary potatoes and burgundy mushrooms! Oh stop!!
OMG . . . where to start? Freshly baked bread with butter, warm rice, moist chocolate cake, luscious key lime pie, almost any cheese, a good steak with french fries, crispy fried chicken, most Chinese food and definitely Peruvian food . . . OK, let’s stop here because it’s not even noon and I’m already craving some of these things! 🙂
I am a total sucker for a cinnamon roll.
I have so many food weaknesses, I don’t know where to start. At the top of the list would be fried pickles, french fries, chocolate-peanut butter anything, and flourless chocolate cake.
