Congratulations to Mandy, BreAnn, Grace, Amber, and Tammy, the winners of this competition!
If I had just checked the mailbox earlier on Lent Eve I would have seen Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, sooner. It arrived the night we’re supposed to empty our flour and sugar bins and use up all the excess butter to make (and overdose) on pancakes.
It was well past dinner when I gathered the mail and spied Ree’s book. Thankfully the dishes were done because once I started paging through the book that was it for the night.
The first picture that caught my eye was an incredibly well behaved bejeweled cat:
How did she get her so poised? Our Chloe would never stand for being decked out like that.
But it was her four-page Homemade Glazed Donut tutorial that made me stop. Why hadn’t I checked the mail sooner? Instead of pancakes I could have made doughnuts for dinner! It had all the same ingredients as pancakes– sugar, milk, eggs, butter, flour. Plus they’re fried, making them even more decadent for the day!
There’s another reason I should have fried up a batch of doughnuts last Tuesday night. As I later confessed on twitter, I have three weakness: potato chips, doughnuts, and a good stiff gin and tonic, and I believe we’re meant to enjoy our vices that night.
Gail of One Tough Cookie tweeted back asking if I planned to give up all three for Lent. At the time I didn’t commit, but I’m ready. Yes, I’ll give up potato chips. A reluctant yes to gin and tonics. But since I missed my shot at making doughnuts last Tuesday, I’ve allowed myself–at least today–a couple of Ree’s.
And having experienced Ree’s Homemade Glazed Doughnuts first hand, I think they’re pretty much the ultimate–pure featherlight delights, like warm Krispy Kremes rolling off the conveyer freshly showered with glaze.
Besides the perfect doughnut recipe, Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, consolidates all of your favorites from the site along with some brand new ones. (Photos too!)
There’s another reason to celebrate. Ree has generously offered Three Many Cooks five copies of her new book for a giveaway. And here’s the added incentive. Since the book isn’t officially available until March 12, five lucky winners will receive their copies a wee bit early.
To win one of the five copies of Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, simply tells us your food weakness(es). Giveaway ends Sunday March 4th at 9 PM ET and winners will be announced the next morning.
Enough! I’ve bared my soul now let’s hear from you.
Brownies. No matter what diet I’m on, and how well I’m doing, I can never say no to a brownie!!!! And don’t even get me started on brownie batter….. 🙂
bbq ribs, ohhhh i can just about taste them now! along with homemade yeast rolls, slathered with melted butter, messy but oh so delicious!
bread and baked goods for sure…
Caramel! I love Ree’s first book and am an avid follower on her website and Facebook. Would love to win her new cook book! My other one should have been laminated because the pages sure are used!
Hmmm… Baked Goods of ALL kinds! 🙂
Anything with gravy.
Oh my gish, Pizza! I am so afraid to venture into making it myself at home for the fear of eating it for every meal.
Milk Duds, I am 62 years old. Give me a box of Milk Duds and I am a greedy 2 year old all over again.
Chocolate cake and PEPSI.
My weakness?
STORE-BOUGHT: Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs
HOMEMADE: SALSA (& Chips)
I scream
You scream
We all scream for ice cream!!!
I love ice cream…I can eat it all day & everyday but for the sake of my skinny jeans, I do my best not indulge all day! 🙂
Claussen pickles and peanut butter toast are my irrestible choices, although not necessarily together. Oddly enough, I am not pregnant and never have been!
Blue Bell ice cream!
CHOCOLATE!!!! Anything that contains chocolate is my weakness!!
Carbs. Ugh!
Pasta with cream sauce! mmmmmmm
pop and homebaked goodies are my temptations!!
Bread and cheese are my food weaknesses!!
Warm crusty French bread with cold, unsalted butter. Mmmmm
Chips and Salsa… homemade salsa…. with fresh tomatoes…. lots of cilantro…. getting very hungry!
Sushi!
Sugar. Anything with sugar is my weakness. I just adore baking!!
CHOCOLATE!!
Weakness is cookies. Love Oatmeal, chocolate chip, most any kind.
My food weakness is pasta…more importantly nutella ravioli! They’re SO amazing! Especially dusted with powdered sugar or white chocolate! Yum! 🙂
Currently, I have an unbelievable weakness for fried pickles (which is strange because I only started liking pickles in the last year or two…I used to be “that kid” who would always pick the pickles off of my hamburgers when I was younger.) I also love Junior Mints. Thanks for hosting this giveaway!
Bread. I love bread! I could eat bread at every meal, shoot I could have bread as a meal!
Fried Eggs. Great Northern Beans. On Top of Seeduction Bread. With LOTS OF BUTTER!
I have a weakness for a great stew and homemade bread. Yum!
I biggest weakness is the “Pioneer Woman’s,” Knock Your Clothes off Brownies!!! YUMMY!!! They are also my husband’s favorite. . . Interesting!!!
I’ve started making cinnamon roll out of her 1st cookbook. Which I just love them so we usually have them everywk before church.
Chocolate covered potato chips!
raw almonds! oh who am i kidding – french fries are my real weakness!
Hmm … Chips and salsa at a legit Mexican restaurant. YUM.
Shrimp scampi, I can eat that until I … well let’s just say I can eat a lot of it.
I love everything really!!! but I’m a fool for cookies or desserts that knock your socks off. Oh I forgot bread, I love homemade bread, oatmeal, Portugese sweet bread, biscuits, wheat bread, you get the idea:)
Homemade Guacamole! I make a double batch when going to parties and manage to scarf down half of it before I even get there. I put extra lime, white pepper, fresh tomatoes, fresh jalapeño and plenty of red onion. It’s a wonder my friends will even come near me by the time I arrive….but the gluttonous, pre-party feast makes me a happier guest!
Ice cream is definitely where I lose all self control. I don’t even walk down that aisle at the grocery store any more for fear that I will spend all of my dollars on Ben and Jerry’s latest creation…
My Granny’s (God rest her soul) Chicken and rice ( it was cooked to perfection), Crab legs, Sushi Eel roll, smother fried rabbit and/or squirrel, gator, frog legs, turtle, Gumbo, fresh steamed oysters. Ok I have several food weaknesses, but who doesn’t. I could keep going but that will do. They are the main things I am not able to readily get my hands on and I would give anything to have the ones I can not get.
food weakness? easy! bread! bread gets me in lots and lots of trouble…especially when paired with real butter. somebody stop me!
My biggest food weakness would be cheesecake…with any topping…. Mmmmmm! My second biggest weakness would be french fries…homemade ones are the best…with just the right amount of salt…not too much, not too little. I actually like sweet potato fries better than the white kind!
1. The doughnut
2. Onion rings
3. Cotton candy
(…mother would put four teaspoons of her coffee in a cup for me and fill it up with milk when I was young and begged for a taste “please, please”)
Bread, anytime, anyway, anyhow.
Two words….ice cream…any kind, any flavor!
Fresh baked bread, strawberry twizlers, Mexican food and anything with caramel. Oh my!
Carbs. Carbs. Carbs.
Comfort foods, liked mashed potatoes/gravy…of course I love all of her recipes, my husband absolutely loves the BBQ wrapped bacon jalapeno poppers…They are so so yummy like all of her recipes!!!!
Gumbo! My fiance is from New Orleans originally, so he grew up on southern staples like gumbo, grits and seafood boils. While I now love a good batch of hot crawfish, Gumbo just seems to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. It’ beats any soup/stew on a chilly day!
popcorn, I can’t go to Target without getting a bag.
