Congratulations to Mandy, BreAnn, Grace, Amber, and Tammy, the winners of this competition!
If I had just checked the mailbox earlier on Lent Eve I would have seen Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, sooner. It arrived the night we’re supposed to empty our flour and sugar bins and use up all the excess butter to make (and overdose) on pancakes.
It was well past dinner when I gathered the mail and spied Ree’s book. Thankfully the dishes were done because once I started paging through the book that was it for the night.
The first picture that caught my eye was an incredibly well behaved bejeweled cat:
How did she get her so poised? Our Chloe would never stand for being decked out like that.
But it was her four-page Homemade Glazed Donut tutorial that made me stop. Why hadn’t I checked the mail sooner? Instead of pancakes I could have made doughnuts for dinner! It had all the same ingredients as pancakes– sugar, milk, eggs, butter, flour. Plus they’re fried, making them even more decadent for the day!
There’s another reason I should have fried up a batch of doughnuts last Tuesday night. As I later confessed on twitter, I have three weakness: potato chips, doughnuts, and a good stiff gin and tonic, and I believe we’re meant to enjoy our vices that night.
Gail of One Tough Cookie tweeted back asking if I planned to give up all three for Lent. At the time I didn’t commit, but I’m ready. Yes, I’ll give up potato chips. A reluctant yes to gin and tonics. But since I missed my shot at making doughnuts last Tuesday, I’ve allowed myself–at least today–a couple of Ree’s.
And having experienced Ree’s Homemade Glazed Doughnuts first hand, I think they’re pretty much the ultimate–pure featherlight delights, like warm Krispy Kremes rolling off the conveyer freshly showered with glaze.
Besides the perfect doughnut recipe, Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, consolidates all of your favorites from the site along with some brand new ones. (Photos too!)
There’s another reason to celebrate. Ree has generously offered Three Many Cooks five copies of her new book for a giveaway. And here’s the added incentive. Since the book isn’t officially available until March 12, five lucky winners will receive their copies a wee bit early.
To win one of the five copies of Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, simply tells us your food weakness(es). Giveaway ends Sunday March 4th at 9 PM ET and winners will be announced the next morning.
Enough! I’ve bared my soul now let’s hear from you.
Chocolate anything! I just bought a candy bar in NYC with chocolate and bacon bits in it just to try it. Peanut butter is another favorite.
Oh, my knees buckle for doughnuts. I was salivating throughout your post.
Bread, carbs..be it sour dough or a cake..yum!
Freshly baked whole wheat bread if I am being good. But if I am bad, I am very bad and it always involves cream, butter sugar and chocolate so I am going to say vanilla bean cake with chocolate ganache and maybe I will throw in raspberry filling.
My weaknesses are carbs of all kinds! I love potatoes, breads and pastas but I am diabetic so I can’t have them, boo!
Brownies! No icing or chocolate chips, though…I’m a brownie purist!
chocolate pudding…warm and creamy straight out of the pan with a dollip of whipping cream.
chocolate is my biggest weakness, but I like so many different foods. too many to choose from
Without a doubt…..French Fries…..
Thai Green Curry! My mouth keeps telling me I’m starving, long after my stomach has sent me into abdominal arrest!
Boiled peanuts. Or anything coconut. Or Asian food of any type. Nevermind, this could go on for hours.
Homemade bread, homemade bread, where for art thou, my homemade bread?! So in love…..its a little frightening 🙂
My weakness is homemade flour tortillas, salsa & fresh guacamole! 🙂
rich chocolate cupcakes topped with fudgy frosting. I could eat a dozen !
My weakness is cupcakes!! Love a good cupcake.
Chips!
Breads, in all shape and forms, with butter of course!
My weakness is definitely hot sauce. Sriacha, Louisiana, Buffalo – whatever! I put it on pizza, bread, veggies, whatever. I’m addicted!

It all started while I was pregnant….onion rings. The rest have been around my whole life…chocolate cake, doughnuts, snickers and diet coke, not in any particular order.
Anything salty & crunchy! Potato chips, tater tots, buttered popcorn, salted cashews, and the list could go on 🙂 oh, and extra cheese on everything! 🙂
My weakness is Diet Lime Coke and any kind of dessert.
Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate. Anything chocolate.
PASTA! homemade pasta stuffed, cheesed, buried in sauce you name it I love it and it shows! LOL

Chocolate chip cookie dough, nicely chilled :p
Chips & Fresh Salsa!
Cheese….I just love cheese and lots of it!
Definitely Cake-especially wedding cake….my husband and I have an agreement that no matter how much we want to leave a wedding reception we will ALWAYS stay for the cake and since he isnt big on sweets he will get a piece and kindly give it to me!
My weakness are those no bake cookies. The combination of chocolate and Peanutbutter call to me from across the house. I truly can’t stop thinking about them until they are all gone.
My food weakness is Bacon! I can’t even cook up a batch to use in a recipe witjout sneaking a nibble for myself.
My #1 weakness? French fries! I have no idea why, and its ALWAYS been that way.
Salty-sweet snacks, like chocolate covered pretzels, spell my doom.

I really like gravy. I could put gravy on anything, and it just makes everything better.
Chocolate – in any form – love it!
potato yeast rolls, lima beans with ham hocks and fried chicken, could eat some of each everyday..yum!
Spaghetti is definetly my weakness with some yummy garlic cheese bread 🙂 I always like to mix it up a bit and I don’t ever really make it the same every time. I like to play around with it.
My food weekness would be chinese food. If I go a week with out it, I get all light headed and sweaty, then my mood changes and I can’t go on……must have…..an….eggroll…..
This would be funny if it wasn’t true…LOL
Bread, cheese and beer. Apparently, I would have been perfectly happy in Medieval times!
my weakness is sweets and nuts, especially M & M’s!
I have so many food weaknesses!! I would say my top weaknesses though are anything with cheese or anything sweet/dessert-ish.
My weakness is anything sweet!
My food weakness is cheese, in all its forms, styles, flavors: hard, soft, blue, melted, etc.
fresh sour dough bread, cake batter and cookie dough, rocky road icecream!
The thing I’d have a hard time giving up would be pizza – a nice thin crust, extra cheese. In the ‘sweets’ category, it would be chocolate brownies!
