If I had just checked the mailbox earlier on Lent Eve I would have seen Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, sooner. It arrived the night we’re supposed to empty our flour and sugar bins and use up all the excess butter to make (and overdose) on pancakes.
It was well past dinner when I gathered the mail and spied Ree’s book. Thankfully the dishes were done because once I started paging through the book that was it for the night.
The first picture that caught my eye was an incredibly well behaved bejeweled cat:
How did she get her so poised? Our Chloe would never stand for being decked out like that.
But it was her four-page Homemade Glazed Donut tutorial that made me stop. Why hadn’t I checked the mail sooner? Instead of pancakes I could have made doughnuts for dinner! It had all the same ingredients as pancakes– sugar, milk, eggs, butter, flour. Plus they’re fried, making them even more decadent for the day!
There’s another reason I should have fried up a batch of doughnuts last Tuesday night. As I later confessed on twitter, I have three weakness: potato chips, doughnuts, and a good stiff gin and tonic, and I believe we’re meant to enjoy our vices that night.
Gail of One Tough Cookie tweeted back asking if I planned to give up all three for Lent. At the time I didn’t commit, but I’m ready. Yes, I’ll give up potato chips. A reluctant yes to gin and tonics. But since I missed my shot at making doughnuts last Tuesday, I’ve allowed myself–at least today–a couple of Ree’s.
And having experienced Ree’s Homemade Glazed Doughnuts first hand, I think they’re pretty much the ultimate–pure featherlight delights, like warm Krispy Kremes rolling off the conveyer freshly showered with glaze.

My #1 weakness is chocolate. #2 is bacon. I have yet to mix them together. I should do that. I think Ree has if I am not mistaken?
Tortilla Chips!
Mashed potatoes and gravy. I just can’t pass them up….ever.
I love jasmine rice and Korean Barbecue…I learned how to make both and I’m ready to eat it 7 days a week!!! 🙂 Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
What isn’t on my list! But my number one food weakness is chocolate ice cream. And this time of year you can add Cadbury Mini Eggs to the list too.
My food weakness is/was brownies! They have been so hard to give up since I found out I am prediabetic but I am staying strong.
Anything with pastry items & chocolate…combined is oh so perfect too!!

My weakness is just about anything Ree has a recipe for, lol. I particularly love her Cajun Chicken Pasta and Chicken Parmesean.
A warm, fudgy brownie with really good vanilla ice cream!

I have a serious sweet tooth. Especially for anything freshly baked.. oh, and cookie dough!!!!!
Extra thick cut, hurt your teeth crunchy, extra salty homestyle potato chips!

My weakness is cinnamon rolls! The Pioneer Woman has the best recipe but you can’t eat just one!
I love to bake, so anything sweet is a major weakness of mine. It’s hard not to taste test my own creations! Self-control is highly overrated. 🙂 Desserts with fruit and chocolate are at the top of my list of weaknesses.
Love breads and pastas and desserts! All the things we are supposed to moderate. Oh, and add butter. To everything! Yummy!!!

I have a lot of food weaknesses, but potato chips, cheese, and Nutella are at the top of the list.

Ice Cream…I can’t just have one scoop. If I’m going to eat it I’m going to eat the entire pint!
I have a weakness for anything sweet, or chocolate, gooey, cakey, nutty, salty, savory, soupy,chunky, baked, fried, frozen……. I love it all.
I’m a crabaholic! Yes, I admit it – crabs are my downfall. Boiled crabs! Fried softshell crabs! Aw man….now I’m drooling on my keyboard.
Oh, and Hershey’s kisses! Mmmm…crabs and kisses!

Potatoes. Potatoes with garlic. Potatoes with cheese. Potatoes dripping with butter, sour cream and chives! Baked, mashed, fried. You name it, I love it!
A good rib eye steak, cooked to perfection with blue cheese! Yummy!! I love PW! My family loves PW!

Brownies a la mode
lasagna
hot rolls w/butter at a French restaurant with cloth napkins
Ruffles potato chips and onion dip
Cheese glorious cheese
fresh Italian bread and pecan pie
Since I’ve had my Lap-Band surgery, my weakness pleasure is warm, gooey straight out of the oven Peanut Butter Cookies.
Sweets!!
Pasta or white rice with butter! I could eat it daily and maybe with some cheese!
