Congratulations to Mandy, BreAnn, Grace, Amber, and Tammy, the winners of this competition!
If I had just checked the mailbox earlier on Lent Eve I would have seen Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, sooner. It arrived the night we’re supposed to empty our flour and sugar bins and use up all the excess butter to make (and overdose) on pancakes.
It was well past dinner when I gathered the mail and spied Ree’s book. Thankfully the dishes were done because once I started paging through the book that was it for the night.
The first picture that caught my eye was an incredibly well behaved bejeweled cat:
How did she get her so poised? Our Chloe would never stand for being decked out like that.
But it was her four-page Homemade Glazed Donut tutorial that made me stop. Why hadn’t I checked the mail sooner? Instead of pancakes I could have made doughnuts for dinner! It had all the same ingredients as pancakes– sugar, milk, eggs, butter, flour. Plus they’re fried, making them even more decadent for the day!
There’s another reason I should have fried up a batch of doughnuts last Tuesday night. As I later confessed on twitter, I have three weakness: potato chips, doughnuts, and a good stiff gin and tonic, and I believe we’re meant to enjoy our vices that night.
Gail of One Tough Cookie tweeted back asking if I planned to give up all three for Lent. At the time I didn’t commit, but I’m ready. Yes, I’ll give up potato chips. A reluctant yes to gin and tonics. But since I missed my shot at making doughnuts last Tuesday, I’ve allowed myself–at least today–a couple of Ree’s.
And having experienced Ree’s Homemade Glazed Doughnuts first hand, I think they’re pretty much the ultimate–pure featherlight delights, like warm Krispy Kremes rolling off the conveyer freshly showered with glaze.
Besides the perfect doughnut recipe, Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, consolidates all of your favorites from the site along with some brand new ones. (Photos too!)
There’s another reason to celebrate. Ree has generously offered Three Many Cooks five copies of her new book for a giveaway. And here’s the added incentive. Since the book isn’t officially available until March 12, five lucky winners will receive their copies a wee bit early.
To win one of the five copies of Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, simply tells us your food weakness(es). Giveaway ends Sunday March 4th at 9 PM ET and winners will be announced the next morning.
Enough! I’ve bared my soul now let’s hear from you.
Bread,BREAD!
Pretty much all sweets are my weakness
Mexican food – especially chips and salsa – but only from restaurants – bagged chips aren’t the same. And the melty cheesy goodness of whatever else I order while I’m there!
Anything chocolate, sugary or carby 🙂
My weakness is pretty much anything sweet!! And pizza!!! And Mexican food!!!
Mine is definitely cheesecake!
Chips, chocolate and diet Coke. Diet pepsi just won’t do – I would rather drink water!!!
Japanese Food! and chocolate of course
My weakness is FOOD! I love pasta and bread and cheese and Mexican and steak and wine and chocolate and beer and wings and … I love Food!
Baked goods of any kind! I usually end up “test tasting” half of anything I bake.
Cheesecake. I love cheesecake.
Pasta! Or bread. Any carb will do!! I love ’em.
Cheese. Any kind – goat, feta, havarti, cheddar. Yum.
Oh my, there are so many weakness’s when it comes to good eats, but the number one with me is toast. I love toast, toast with peanut butter, toast with cinnamon sugar and butter, toast, glorious toast. French toast, egg in a hole, garlic toast, on and on and on. Oh yea, a nice wheat bread or Italian will do.
My weakness is definitely chocolate, especially late at night when I shouldn’t be thinking about it…
BREAD!!! And Ice cream!
My food weaknesses are everything! Can I say that?! I love to eat, period. My weakness has to be deciding what to eat next.
Italian food! The cheese, the pasta – yummy!
I LOVE CHOCOLATE!!!! Chocolate sheet cake…chocolate cookies…french silk chocolate pie…chocolate truffles…hot chocolate…chocolate brownies….chocolate covered strawberries…you name it! When I hear the word chocolate, I don’t care what other food type it involves, you can count on me running over to gobble it up… Mmmmm…..

A fountain diet Dr pepper with 2 squirts of cherry syrup, & salt & pepper patoto chips…
My food weaknesses are: anything mexican, good greasy cheeseburgers, and chips with any kind of dip. Generally, all good food!
WELL, My food weakness IS Doughnuts! Could there REALLY be anything better to eat on this earth than a warm, sweet doughnut? I’m positive NOT! My problem is that I’ve never be able to make them myself….I REALLY NEED REE’S NEW COOKBOOK.
Anything chocolate!
Cooking anything with heavy cream! Mmmm i love the stuff. And I also have a mean sweet tooth. And I love cheese. Man, what ISN’T my food weakness?

CHEESE! and lots of it!
Pasta, hot out of the oven sourdough (I will eat half a loaf if no one is watching!) And my grandma’s from scratch chocolate cake, it’s amazing!!! Those three things are the best comfort foods out there. Luckily if you eat too much of that rich cake, you get sick, so over the years I’ve learned to pace myself 🙂
God,where do I start! Pasta is probably the biggest one. Anything with shellfish. Girlie cocktails. Comfort food. Good bread. Blackberry cobbler. I could go on and on! Oh, and bacon.
Bacon, I’m like the dog in the commercial, bacon, bacon, bacon!!!! I just love bacon!! I know it’s not the best stuff for me, so I don’t fix it too often. 🙁
Oh my, This is hard but I would say my weakness is a decadent Chocolate Cake. Of course it has to be served with a scoop of Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. Great, now I have to bake a cake. lol
Cheese dip. I kinda lose my mind over it.
