Congratulations to Mandy, BreAnn, Grace, Amber, and Tammy, the winners of this competition!
If I had just checked the mailbox earlier on Lent Eve I would have seen Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, sooner. It arrived the night we’re supposed to empty our flour and sugar bins and use up all the excess butter to make (and overdose) on pancakes.
It was well past dinner when I gathered the mail and spied Ree’s book. Thankfully the dishes were done because once I started paging through the book that was it for the night.
The first picture that caught my eye was an incredibly well behaved bejeweled cat:
How did she get her so poised? Our Chloe would never stand for being decked out like that.
But it was her four-page Homemade Glazed Donut tutorial that made me stop. Why hadn’t I checked the mail sooner? Instead of pancakes I could have made doughnuts for dinner! It had all the same ingredients as pancakes– sugar, milk, eggs, butter, flour. Plus they’re fried, making them even more decadent for the day!
There’s another reason I should have fried up a batch of doughnuts last Tuesday night. As I later confessed on twitter, I have three weakness: potato chips, doughnuts, and a good stiff gin and tonic, and I believe we’re meant to enjoy our vices that night.
Gail of One Tough Cookie tweeted back asking if I planned to give up all three for Lent. At the time I didn’t commit, but I’m ready. Yes, I’ll give up potato chips. A reluctant yes to gin and tonics. But since I missed my shot at making doughnuts last Tuesday, I’ve allowed myself–at least today–a couple of Ree’s.
And having experienced Ree’s Homemade Glazed Doughnuts first hand, I think they’re pretty much the ultimate–pure featherlight delights, like warm Krispy Kremes rolling off the conveyer freshly showered with glaze.
Besides the perfect doughnut recipe, Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, consolidates all of your favorites from the site along with some brand new ones. (Photos too!)
There’s another reason to celebrate. Ree has generously offered Three Many Cooks five copies of her new book for a giveaway. And here’s the added incentive. Since the book isn’t officially available until March 12, five lucky winners will receive their copies a wee bit early.
To win one of the five copies of Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, simply tells us your food weakness(es). Giveaway ends Sunday March 4th at 9 PM ET and winners will be announced the next morning.
Enough! I’ve bared my soul now let’s hear from you.
My food weekness is homemade soup with a side of rustic bread! Yum!
Girl Scout Cookies! I
bread…I could have it every meal as a meal. everything else is a side compared to a good roll.
So cliche, but like so many women, what would life be without chocolate!?! My other weakness, now that you mentioned donuts, is krispy creme donuts, but since I’m no where near a KC, Ree’s recipe is 1st on my list!!

Homemade bread & real butter.
I love salt, love homemade potatoe chips, french fries, but I try to balance that with healthly fare too. I have four kids, two with immune disorders, so healthy eating is worth their health. We do cheat somethimes, to keep everyone sane. I love to try new recipes, and the kids love to help.
Mashed Potatoes… only the “real” ones, no instant. I like them the old fashioned way, the “loaded” way, the creamy way, the slightly lumpy way… well, you get the idea. Mashed Potatoes are my food weakness.
my food weakness is cheese. any type. any kind. in any dish.
Anything chocolate…sweets get me every time!
Fried Chicken! I am not allowed near the stuff for fear of death by overeating!
My food weakness is pasta and garlic bread. Oh and chips and dip!!!

My weakness is peanut butter and chocolate! And cookbooks!
Chips and Salsa….I could eat it for days!
I know this sounds weird but beef is my weakness! If I could have steaks and hamburgers and tacos all week I would BUT I can’t (and don’t)!!! 🙂
Food weakness…cheese for me!
I am addicted to Chocolate.. in all forms.. and chips and salsa..and coffee
Mine is homemade cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting!
I love almost everything. No liver please. Love sweets ( chocolate), and salty (chips, etc.) Oh yeah Pasta. I’m hungry. Gotta go.
Fried anything: chicken or chicken fried steak (both must be accompanied by cream gravy), doughnuts, fries, fish. I never fry stuff though but because I hate cleaning up afterwards and the hot oil smell hangs around longer than the food.
I love fried bread. Also Tacos.
Cover anything in chocolate, and I’ll eat it. Chocolate onions, chocolate bacon, chocolate potato chips (that one actually sounds really good…)
Warm bread with real butter…it gets me every time!

My weaknesses are anything carbs really – I know that’s pretty general but I love them all! Breads and pastas! I could eat them every day!
Ice cream and cheese.
French Fries. Funnel Cakes. Donuts. In general, fried starch.
Anyting made with ingredients! I overheard an employee at a very large super store sayng that they had a meeting and some of the information that they got was that when considering all of the grocery departments…meat, dairy, produce, eggs, 91% of the grocerys purchased are processed food! Yuck! Food is meant to feed the mind, body and soul…
Right now it’s pancakes – I’m pregnant and could eat them 3xs a day!
My weakness would have to be peanut butter cups..can’t eat just one. 🙂
I love food, but my ultimate weaknesses are chocolate cake, and nice salty potato chips with a cold coke to wash them down.
Definitely pasta! I think I could eat pasta every day of my life and never get bored 🙂
I have so many weaknesses that it’s really hard to pick one. French fries, cupcakes, cookies, caramel lattes, and pizza would round out my top five.
Chips, chips, chips
