Congratulations to Mandy, BreAnn, Grace, Amber, and Tammy, the winners of this competition!
If I had just checked the mailbox earlier on Lent Eve I would have seen Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, sooner. It arrived the night we’re supposed to empty our flour and sugar bins and use up all the excess butter to make (and overdose) on pancakes.
It was well past dinner when I gathered the mail and spied Ree’s book. Thankfully the dishes were done because once I started paging through the book that was it for the night.
The first picture that caught my eye was an incredibly well behaved bejeweled cat:
How did she get her so poised? Our Chloe would never stand for being decked out like that.
But it was her four-page Homemade Glazed Donut tutorial that made me stop. Why hadn’t I checked the mail sooner? Instead of pancakes I could have made doughnuts for dinner! It had all the same ingredients as pancakes– sugar, milk, eggs, butter, flour. Plus they’re fried, making them even more decadent for the day!
There’s another reason I should have fried up a batch of doughnuts last Tuesday night. As I later confessed on twitter, I have three weakness: potato chips, doughnuts, and a good stiff gin and tonic, and I believe we’re meant to enjoy our vices that night.
Gail of One Tough Cookie tweeted back asking if I planned to give up all three for Lent. At the time I didn’t commit, but I’m ready. Yes, I’ll give up potato chips. A reluctant yes to gin and tonics. But since I missed my shot at making doughnuts last Tuesday, I’ve allowed myself–at least today–a couple of Ree’s.
And having experienced Ree’s Homemade Glazed Doughnuts first hand, I think they’re pretty much the ultimate–pure featherlight delights, like warm Krispy Kremes rolling off the conveyer freshly showered with glaze.
Besides the perfect doughnut recipe, Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, consolidates all of your favorites from the site along with some brand new ones. (Photos too!)
There’s another reason to celebrate. Ree has generously offered Three Many Cooks five copies of her new book for a giveaway. And here’s the added incentive. Since the book isn’t officially available until March 12, five lucky winners will receive their copies a wee bit early.
To win one of the five copies of Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, simply tells us your food weakness(es). Giveaway ends Sunday March 4th at 9 PM ET and winners will be announced the next morning.
Enough! I’ve bared my soul now let’s hear from you.
Bread, bread and more bread! Mostly slathered with butter, topped with cheese and garlic and broiled.
So many deliscious things to choose from! Chips with sals and quest, or maybe bread and pasta! Although, donuts are a must too!
I love me a stiff gin and tonic too! But also most anything salty- pizza, chips, Mexican food, etc…
Gooey, cheesy deliciousness. If it’s slathered in cheese I’m a happy girl.
My foot weakness is a good loaf of bread and soft warm butter!!!!
My food weakness list could max out the character limit of this text box! But, if I had to pick a few, it would be cheese, creamy mashed potatoes, garlic cheese bread, and cheese popcorn. I guess the theme is rich dairy – I AM from Wisconsin after all… 🙂
My food weakness is pizza, or something that looks like pizza, or has pizza-like toppings, or is some sort of bread product with some sort of sauce topped with cheese.
My weakness is cheese. I have to put it on almost everything!
Bread….is definitely my weakness. I would love to stay home and bake bread all the time…all different kinds of breads.
And now the selfish side…I hope I win…it would be a great bday present!!!
Chocolate of course, but I also love a really good home-made Mac and Cheese. Hurray for comfort foods!
My food weaknesses are donuts(yes, it’s true) and true “diner style” breakfast foods…ANYTHING on the menu under “Breakfast Items”!!!
BTW, I am truly enjoying my first forays onto your blog. ^_^
Cheese and crackers of ANY kind!!! Soft cheese, hard cheese, plain crackers, or flavored crackersI I could eat my weight in them! I even make little sandwiches out of crackers, cheese & mustard! Every now & then, I’ll throw in some carrots or an apple as the side dish but cheese & crackers is ALWAYS the main event! I think I’ll go have some cheese & crackers for a snack!
Anything cheese and/or pasta! So you can imagine how I feel about macaroni and cheese 🙂
French Fries WITH fry sauce and a coke. Wow, now I am hungry!
I despise auto correct! Chip with salsa and queso!
Bread! I love bread! Rosemary bread is my absolute, hands down favorite, but I love all bread. I don’t discriminate! 🙂
Cheesecake. I indulge once a year – on my birthday!
Haggen Dazs Java Chip ice cream in a cold bowl with steamy hot fudge sauce melting on top…..oh lawd its good.
Potato Chips!
Food weakness is pizza, just can’t say no~
Mexican food! I could eat it every day!
My food weaknesses are creme brulee, chocolate, bread, cheese and red wine, as well as tanqueray and tonics
my weakness is potato chips!!! i could eat them all day!
Anything chocolate. I can pass by the chips, but chocolate covered caramels with sea salt makes my chubby knees quake.
Anything with chocolate!!
Chocolate…without a doubt!
My food weakness is definitely chocolate – specifically, the Pioneer Woman’s Texas Sheet Cake. Oh. My. Goodness. At Christmastime, I add crushed candy canes on top of the frosting and it’s the most-requested item in our neighborhood at our Christmas potluck! 🙂
Creme Brulee is a definite weakness, and things involving ricotta cheese! And cream. I could drink half-&-half straight from the carton if it was kosher. Mmmm.
doughnuts. Why do they have to taste so good? 🙁 LOL.
Food Weaknesses? Is there a letter limit on this comment? Pretty much anything in Ree’s cookbook would qualify as a food weakness. Except Charlie. I don’t eat dogs. Can’t speak of cats since I’ve eaten copious amounts of ‘Chinese’ food from some sketchy looking places. Moving on.
Anything homemade that is so good it makes me eat seconds even though I’m not still hungry. Chips & salsa washed down with a frozen margarita. Chicken Pot Pie. My mama’s deluxe apple pie. Spanish style chili poured over homemade mac & cheese. My Asian chicken salad on buttered toast. Warm biscuits topped with fresh peaches & hazelnut cream. I really could continue but I’ve made myself so hungry I’m gonna go eat lunch. Again.
chocolate!
I’m pregnant so my current food weekness is Bluebell Icecream, preferably, Rocky Mountain Road! Oh so good!
Chocolate in all its forms… It’s a legitimate addiction. 😉
Bread is my weakness!
Cheeseburgers, cheeseburgers! Get thee behind me devil!
I would have to say pizza, brownies or icecream- I just can’t say no to either of those 3!
My food weaknesses are just about anything that’s loaded with high carbs – pasta, rice, bread. But a bit of chocolate is a MUST each and every day!
O’ weak in the knees for coconut & almonds!
Chocolate and pomergranate. Especaily together.
My weakness was always chocolate, but my fiance won’t eat it, so I’ve been broadening my horizons to include my new love for raspberry coconut cake and chips and queso dip!
My food weakness….food! Ok so really anything italian, I am a lover of all that is pasta!
My weakness is anything salty……chips, pretzels, pickles, popcorn!
yummy pastery breads ~ especially pioneer woman cinnamon rolls! NO self control in this area 🙁 nope. none.

Comfort foods-mac and cheese
Chocolate chip cookies fresh out of the oven with a cold glass of milk!
Ooooo..Brownies. That is one of my weaknesses…and cheese, white cheese like havarti & Munster. And potatoes…LOVE potatoes–mashed, fried, baked, whatever! Hmmmm…now I am hungry!! 🙂
cookies…any homemade cookie. never store bought, a waste of time and calories.
My food weakness is Brownies. I was so excited when Ree shared with us her Not so Naked Brownies. Delicious!
