Congratulations to Mandy, BreAnn, Grace, Amber, and Tammy, the winners of this competition!
If I had just checked the mailbox earlier on Lent Eve I would have seen Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, sooner. It arrived the night we’re supposed to empty our flour and sugar bins and use up all the excess butter to make (and overdose) on pancakes.
It was well past dinner when I gathered the mail and spied Ree’s book. Thankfully the dishes were done because once I started paging through the book that was it for the night.
The first picture that caught my eye was an incredibly well behaved bejeweled cat:
How did she get her so poised? Our Chloe would never stand for being decked out like that.
But it was her four-page Homemade Glazed Donut tutorial that made me stop. Why hadn’t I checked the mail sooner? Instead of pancakes I could have made doughnuts for dinner! It had all the same ingredients as pancakes– sugar, milk, eggs, butter, flour. Plus they’re fried, making them even more decadent for the day!
There’s another reason I should have fried up a batch of doughnuts last Tuesday night. As I later confessed on twitter, I have three weakness: potato chips, doughnuts, and a good stiff gin and tonic, and I believe we’re meant to enjoy our vices that night.
Gail of One Tough Cookie tweeted back asking if I planned to give up all three for Lent. At the time I didn’t commit, but I’m ready. Yes, I’ll give up potato chips. A reluctant yes to gin and tonics. But since I missed my shot at making doughnuts last Tuesday, I’ve allowed myself–at least today–a couple of Ree’s.
And having experienced Ree’s Homemade Glazed Doughnuts first hand, I think they’re pretty much the ultimate–pure featherlight delights, like warm Krispy Kremes rolling off the conveyer freshly showered with glaze.
Besides the perfect doughnut recipe, Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, consolidates all of your favorites from the site along with some brand new ones. (Photos too!)
There’s another reason to celebrate. Ree has generously offered Three Many Cooks five copies of her new book for a giveaway. And here’s the added incentive. Since the book isn’t officially available until March 12, five lucky winners will receive their copies a wee bit early.
To win one of the five copies of Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, simply tells us your food weakness(es). Giveaway ends Sunday March 4th at 9 PM ET and winners will be announced the next morning.
Enough! I’ve bared my soul now let’s hear from you.
potato chips!
Cookies in any shape, and pizza
Unfortunately, I don’t have just one weakness when it comes to food. I just love all food in general.
Bbq anything bbq
I know this sounds weird . . . but my weakness is salad . . . I will go out to eat thinking I’ll have the pork tenderloin, but then I’ll give into a salad. I think I’m craving a burger at the local bar, but then I’ll order some kind of salad instead. I swear I am addicted to salad. I eat at least one every day.
Depends on my mood, but chocolate always wins.
FOOD is my food weakness! Pasta, especially!
Cheesecake just does me in….every time!!! Just love it!!
ALL things sweet!!!
Pasta! With any sauce – especially love ree’s spaghetti and meatballs and pasta carbonara.
I would have to say that any food with sugar in it is my weakness. I hope you ship to Canada!
I love anything that is a bad carb…. pasta, potatoes, bread, rice…and cake!
It would have to be homemade bread that is hot with butter!!!
My weakness if Chicken Vindaloo, I have been craving it for about 2 years now and have been looking for a way to satisfy it, lol.
any warm ooey and gooey homemade dessert!
Sunny-side up eggs with buttered toast. My mom’s homemade pasta with homemade marinara sauce. Brick oven pizza. Crispy chocolate chip cookies. Coca-Cola. A good stinky cheese with fresh crusty bread.
I admit I am a sucker for fresh bread and for cheese but the one thing I crave is MEAT! Roasted Chicken, BBQ Pork, but especially rare steak with ketchup or steak sauce!! MMMmmmmm!
Chocolate!
Thick, soft sugar cookies with a thick layer of good icing on top! Mmmmmm!
Cookies, brownies, ice cream, chocolate… the sugar list goes on. I am constantly exercising self control to stop me from making these things.
I do not have any just favorite as I love food. But if I must I love pasta and sweets.
cheese, more cheese, and more cheese
I cannot not eat dark chocolate flourless tortes. Can’t. Not possible. Pass the cream and raspberries please.
Chocolate desserts & bread!
Bread and cheese. Num, num, num!
Chocolate chips – straight out of the bag…
Creme brule, anything with sprinkles on it, and my mom’s mashed potatoes….seriously, they are like little clouds of heaven!
Anything that is dessert period! Peanut butter Brownies, blackberry cobble peachpie, pudding, chocolate, candy! I have to have a strong wil to try and stray lean, thats for sure! My husband says that my kids wil love me for my sweets when they gow up 🙂
I have serious issues with M&M peanuts. If my husband brings home a bag (I don’t dare buy them) I can’t stop until they are gone. I believe this requires an intervention!
Soup, I would eat soup everyday.
I love comfort food…mashed potatoes with gravy, Mac & cheese, fried chicken, roast with carrots, potatoes & onions! But my biggest food weakness is pastries…homemade fresh breads, cinnamon rolls, monkey bread, cakes, pies, you name it. My father is the same way. He loves to cook & every Saturday night, from when I was a child to this day, he would make us all a treat, either a cake with homemade buttercream icing, or monkey bread or peach cobbler! I inherited this joy of cooking & baking, & I’m very thankful for that!
Cake.
Pregnancy has me craving Chinese food, fried chicken, macaroni & cheese, fried okra, hot water cornbread…anything my health nut husband hates eating! Haha.. I LOVE Ree!!
I have two weaknesses. Biggest weakness is ice cream or frozen custard, not just any, has to be from Andy’s because it is the best. Almost as much of a weakness and certainly consummed more often than frozen custard is coffee, but, not just any coffee, it has to be Thomas Coffee and living in SW Missouri that is hard to find, which explains my frequent trips to the St. Louis area to purchase it. Oh, and to visit my grandchildren!!!!!
My food weakness is……pizza! And homemade bread. And pasta.
Chocolate is my weakness for sure…
Anything sweet- donuts, candy, cookies, brownies, etc.
Basically, anything that is bad for you but taste sooooo good!
Bread and butter. Or bread and butter grilled cheese sandwich. The world is automatically a better place because there is bread and butter in it. I think I will go get some now! 🙂
Wine and dark chocolate, together they make heaven in your mouth.
Homemade cookies! (and the dough of course.)
Anything Chocolate, Bread, and cookies
Chips and anything cheesy or containing cheese!
My weakness is a tall bloody mary. With a pickled asparagus in place of the celery stalk. Woo buddy! And homemade beer cheese dip, oh my!
Cheese and crackers,
Chocolate!!!!!!
Chocolate…plain and simple!
CORN DOGS!! And anything Lemon! Nope, not even pregnat’
I am an equal opportunity foodie… I eat too many bites on way to many things, but toffee, tiramisu and guacomole always get me!
Mac n’ Cheese!!!!
CUPCAKES!
