Congratulations to Mandy, BreAnn, Grace, Amber, and Tammy, the winners of this competition!
If I had just checked the mailbox earlier on Lent Eve I would have seen Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, sooner. It arrived the night we’re supposed to empty our flour and sugar bins and use up all the excess butter to make (and overdose) on pancakes.
It was well past dinner when I gathered the mail and spied Ree’s book. Thankfully the dishes were done because once I started paging through the book that was it for the night.
The first picture that caught my eye was an incredibly well behaved bejeweled cat:
How did she get her so poised? Our Chloe would never stand for being decked out like that.
But it was her four-page Homemade Glazed Donut tutorial that made me stop. Why hadn’t I checked the mail sooner? Instead of pancakes I could have made doughnuts for dinner! It had all the same ingredients as pancakes– sugar, milk, eggs, butter, flour. Plus they’re fried, making them even more decadent for the day!
There’s another reason I should have fried up a batch of doughnuts last Tuesday night. As I later confessed on twitter, I have three weakness: potato chips, doughnuts, and a good stiff gin and tonic, and I believe we’re meant to enjoy our vices that night.
Gail of One Tough Cookie tweeted back asking if I planned to give up all three for Lent. At the time I didn’t commit, but I’m ready. Yes, I’ll give up potato chips. A reluctant yes to gin and tonics. But since I missed my shot at making doughnuts last Tuesday, I’ve allowed myself–at least today–a couple of Ree’s.
And having experienced Ree’s Homemade Glazed Doughnuts first hand, I think they’re pretty much the ultimate–pure featherlight delights, like warm Krispy Kremes rolling off the conveyer freshly showered with glaze.
Besides the perfect doughnut recipe, Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, consolidates all of your favorites from the site along with some brand new ones. (Photos too!)
There’s another reason to celebrate. Ree has generously offered Three Many Cooks five copies of her new book for a giveaway. And here’s the added incentive. Since the book isn’t officially available until March 12, five lucky winners will receive their copies a wee bit early.
To win one of the five copies of Ree’s new book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontier, simply tells us your food weakness(es). Giveaway ends Sunday March 4th at 9 PM ET and winners will be announced the next morning.
Enough! I’ve bared my soul now let’s hear from you.
I have a terrible weakness for sweets. Homemade cookies, cakes, brownies, pies…oh my, makes me hungry just typing those words!!
Hmmmm… Well, I would say potato chips, french fries, onion rings. I guess that mean fried foods! Although I love my sweets too!!

My weaknesses are cheese, pecans, and caramel. My son and daughter’s weakness is Ree’s cinnamon rolls. They can’t get enough of them and beg me to make them. Actually everyone in the family and neighborhood love them. Thanks for the contest. Good luck everyone.
Italian Wedding Cake, dark chocolate M&Ms, mac & cheese!
Mac and cheese, hands down.
My food weakness? Just one? I love food! But my biggest weakness is cookies. Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies are my absolute fave. I can eat a whole batch (over a couple of days) – therefore I don’t make them very often!
I’m on a vanilla ice cream with chocolate chips sprinkled on top kick right now. I have to have a little every night.
Please don’t ban me, but honest to goodness, my weakness is a concoction I make with Ramen noodles. I add less than the amount of water called for, add sesame oil and cayenne pepper, throw in some veggies usually (Chinese, but any will do) and an egg and let the mess come to a boil for approximately two and a half minutes. The egg will still have a runny yolk. I pour the whole pot full of yummy sodium-infused goodness over a honking blob of sour cream and stir. Been eating this since I had my first apartment and needed a quick, cheap semi-healthy meal. Cannot get away from it to save my life.
Second only to that is probably my grandma’s bread pudding with rum raisin brown butter sauce. If you’re gonna die, die happy, right?!
Krispy Kreme glazed doughnuts. I only discovered them about 2 years ago and I want to make up for lost time!
Cheese and chocolate! Thanks for the chance to win!
I am supposed to be eating low carb/Paleo, but sometimes I just have to have Mexican food…yummmm!
jelly donuts are my downfall
Among a host of other things, homemade bread is my weakness!

Chips and cookies
Potatoes – any way – plenty of them!!!
MMMMMM..Rocky mountain oysters and anything with chocolate!
Bread and butter… lots of it.
Food weakness??? I have so many. But the top contenders are probably french fries and fresh doughnuts.
My food weeknesses are dark chocolate… esp. dark chocolate covered coffee beans. But that’s not a food… my other food weakness is breads. Hey, man does not live by bread alone. ( ;
My biggest food weakness? Breads. I LOVE breads. All kinds of breads. If it’s a bread, I’ll eat it!
Anything squishy, warm and doughy! Also anything with chocolate and peanut butter.
Dark chocolate! I love love love chocolate covered fruit & mousse.
