To me the best lemon bar must consist of a tender, buttery crust and a soft, intensely lemony filling. One other thing…it must be simple to make. In this week’s USA Weekend video, we demonstrate our perfect recipe for these irresistible sweet treats.
With Easter, Mother’s Day, picnics and parties coming up, keep this recipe in your back pocket. It’s a simple and delicious dessert to serve up at your place or pack and bring to a friend’s.
Happy baking!

Hey ladies,
Everyone needs a good lemon bar in their repertoire and this one looks really good. Pam, I love how you reduce the recipe to its simplest (like 20 minutes, 20 minutes at 325) and also how you throw in the useful tips like patting down the crust with the bottom of the measuring cup. It really makes the recipe feel effortless.

For “adult” lemon bars as a friend calls them, make a lemon glaze using the juice of one lemon and zest mixed with powdered sugar for desired consistency. WOW!!!

Hey Emily.
The lemon bar recipe is on our site. If you click the lemon bar photo at the end of the post, you’ll get to the recipe. If you click on the lemon bar photo on the right side of the screen, you’ll find it that way too.

I enjoy Sunday mornings for several reasons, one of those reasons is the USA Weekend magazine arrives with your recipe!
I have made the beer bread and am about to attempt the lemon bars. The videos are great because you show how to do it and make it look as easy as it is, which is one reason I like your recipes.
It is really cool that a mom and her daughters can share space in a kitchen, I never felt welcomed in my mother’s kitchen, however, I only have sons and my oldest LOVES to help in the kitchen, he is really a great cook!
Thank you so very much for sharing your recipes and the effort you put into your blog.
