What is it about food on a stick? Why do we love it so much? Photographer and food lover, Matt Armendariz set out to find the best food-on-a-stick, the known and unknown. Tough job, huh?
The result is an exceedingly Fun book (Fun with a capital F) called On a Stick!
Not surprisingly, the book (photographed by Matt himself) is a visual party on paper. As I perused the pages, I loved the look of things like Chicken and Waffles and Chinese Meatballs, but I paused on the panzanella. I thought it was clever, but also, in the height of summer, I wanted to use tomatoes and basil. I threw these together quickly, served them to a troupe of hungry friends and they were gone in minutes. The sherry vinaigrette coupled with creamy mozzarella and the bright flavors of tomato and basil – it was simple, summer perfection. Everyone loved the panzanella, and they raved all the more simply because…it was on a stick.
So perhaps Matt is right. “Food on a stick just tastes better.” But one thing is certain: it’s more fun. This will be my new go-to party book for fun recipes and endless inspiration.

I’m not so adventurous, so I’ll have to say ice cream. My son however, will eat anything on a stick–the stranger the better, so this cookbook will be for him, if I’m so lucky to win it.
At the State Fair in Texas there are always new creations served on a stick. I guess my favorite that I have tried was Italian sausage, peppers and onions wrapped in a pizza dough, (I know Stromboli) but was on a stick, it was amazingly good!! And ya just can’t beat the original Corn Dog!! I”m gonna have to find this book my family will love it!!!
There is a Japanese restaurant near here that serves katsu fried cheddar cheese. It’s so naughty and good.

My favorite food on a stick is Thai chicken satay. I love the peanut dipping sauce that comes with it too!
I love eating fruit on a stick, fruit kabobs are soo good, especially dipped in chocolate, and of course chocolate dipped frozen bananas on a stick!
Speedies! (Marinated beef/venison cubes, grilled and served on a hoagie.)
Corndogs have got it!!!
Bananas and mangoes, on a stick and frozen for a few hours. Drizzled with chocolate. It’s awesome! Both the fruits have a wonderfully smooth texture when frozen. I use dairy-free chocolate, so it makes a great dairy-free dessert for me while the rest of my family ate ice cream. Plus, it’s on a stick.
So torn! Love corn dogs (w mustard!), teriyaki or chocolate covered cheesecake- all delicious on a stick!

Not the ones you can buy now, but when I was a kid, I LOVED good humor Strawberry shortcake ice cream, chocolate eclair and the almond ice cream bars. they still exist, but not the same!! YUM!
I must say that Yakitori (chicken on a stick) is pretty awesome
Right now it is Bluebell’s butter pecan icecream bars covered in white chocolate!

I love, love corn dogs! But…I’m like Matt, anything on a stick just taste better.
I think someone mentioned it above already but Chicken Satay is our favorite as well. And fruit on a stick? One of the best ways I know of to get kids that aren’t that keen on fruit to eat it! This looks like an awesome book and I’ll definitely have to try your Insalata Caprese on a Stick!
OH hands down, beef or chicken on a stick from the street vendors in NYC! OMG nothing better my mouth is watering for them……although yours looks pretty awesome I might have to try it….

So many ideas come to mind for favorite food on a stick. I love this Thai chicken recipe I have a then of course corn dogs with sweet and sour sauce.
I think I have to go with the classic Fletcher’s Corny Dog at the State Fair of Texas. It doesn’t get much better than that!

I put my potatoes on skewers before putting in the oven to bake. So I will say baked potatoes, topped with anything and everything.

I started making my own corn dogs last year using organic hot dogs and they are so delicious! I will never give a store bought corn dog another look again!
I would have to say good german hot dogs. There’s nothing like sitting around the campfire roasting hot dogs. They never taste so good as when they are cooked outdoors with people you love.

Pronto Pups (corndog made with a pancake batter) which is from a little stand in Grand Haven, Mi. Gotta have one or two every summer!
