Sharon and Anthony moved out of their apartment a couple of weeks ago. We’ve all been there, and it’s not much fun. I’d like to meet a couple that didn’t have at least a little tiff on moving day. You’ve just gotta plow through and endure.
All I wanted to offer these two exhausted young people at the end of the day was a welcoming table, a fun supper, and a special cocktail. I know they would have done it for me.
To create the drink I selected all their favorites—gin for spike, St. Germain and bitters for flavor. Since Sharon and Anthony are leaving New England (and Sharon has always loved apples), I used apple juice to anchor the drink, with lemon juice to brighten this spirited concoction.
I believe these two cocktail pros enjoyed my creation. They might even post a response here to confirm, but they’re in Spain for a month on their long overdue honeymoon.
After Spain, they’ll be back here for a brief time before heading to their new home in Atlanta… at which point, I plan to try this very same cocktail with peach nectar. I’ve already got the name: Atla-tini!
- 6 tablespoons apple juice
- ¼ cup gin
- 1½ tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon St. Germain
- 3 dashes bitters
- Place all ingredients in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake thoroughly and strain into a martini-style glass. Serve.
