Serves 2
Large ice cubes
1 large lime, cut into 8 chunks
Bombay Sapphire Gin, stored in the freezer
2 bottles (6.3 ounces each) Q tonic or 1 bottle (10 ounces ) Shweppe’s tonic water
Fill two 12-ounce insulated plastic glasses with ice cubes. Rub each glass rim with a lime chunk; squeeze remaining juice over ice. Add about 1/4 cup of gin to each glass. Top each with tonic water. Drizzle or “perfume” each drink with a teaspoon or so of gin serve immediately.

Pam – thanks for this – Bombay Sapphire is the BEST. bring on the warm weather so we can start enjoynig these!
I found the Q Tonic at my local health food store, and had one of these after the kids were in bed last night. It was great!
I don’t think it’s going to replace my glass of Scotch, but I do think it will make a regular appearance in my drink rotation.
I don’t like to sound like an idiot, but… how much is a jiggler??
That’s a really good question, Ellina. In fact, it appears that a jigger is 1 1/2 ounces (or 3 tablespoons). If that’s true, I think 2 ounces or 1/4 cup of gin the correct amount and have edited the recipe accordingly–in cup measurements!
For my taste I would use Martin Millers gin over Bombay, but you’re right the tonic is all important. My tip is to keep the gin in the refridgerator, not the freezer. Too cold.
[...] occasions when this vintage drink will be right at home. For now, I’m back with my old faithful. G&T. [...]
Every time I hear “gin & tonic”, I think of when I was little, helping “clean up” after my parents had parties. I always drank my mom’s G&T! LOL So silly, but its a fun memory!
Nothing says summer more than a tasty G&T.
